[Life]

I was invited to the Barbecue Party of my friend last weekend, so I went to her house at Hayama in Kanagawa Prefecture. 3 years have passed since I visited in November 2006.

First of all, I went to the Shinzushi station by Keikyu Line. Then I got on a bus for about 10 minutes and walked to my destination where it is rich green and is near the seacoast.

After arriving, I joined preparing with friends.
At long last the barbecue began.

Although we worried about the weather, it changed from an overcast sky to an interval of clear weather. So, it was an ideal weather for the barbecue.

I drank Mrs.W's Homemade "Sangria" (=Spanish Red Wine Punch) this time also.

I had to be careful about drinking because it was tasty and felt good on the tongue... lol

We had a great time (eating, drinking, talking...) until it had been very dark. Thanks awfully!

[Art&Design]

An entrance to the Setagaya Literary Museum

The rainy season has officially ended on last Tuesday in Tokyo. The real summer has begun and it continues heat and humidity.

By the way, I went to the Setagaya Literary Museum this weekend with my sister to see the Seiichi Horiuchi's exhibition who is one of the leading editorial designer and a writer of picture book in Japan.

Seiichi Horiuchi "Tabi-to Ehon-to Design-to"

The exhibition of an art director Seiichi Horiuchi (1932〜1987) is held at Setagaya Literary Museum until 6th September.
He led Japanese culture by designing and directing the girls magazine AN-AN in the 70s , the men's magazine BRUTUS in the 80s, and many other works such as children books and illustrated travel reports. He is an important figure in Japanese culture and design history.

This exhibition consists of three fields, "trip" "picture book" " design", of his works and is shown about 200 pieces of his works and materials.

They had taken care over the layout of the exhibition, which made it very easy to take in. Also, we could see the materials and design-tools used in painting, and watched a filmed reenactment about how to use those tools by his workmate. Anyway, it was worth seeing. I was very happy that I could have really seen the original works which are picture books and the travel sketches of magazine serials that I've ever read. Mr. Horiuchi had good handwriting and wrote in tiny lettering, so there were some magnifying glasses to see his works for visitors at the museum.

Several hours passed by in an instant...
After we watched exhibition, we went to the downstairs coffeehouse because we felt hungry.

It was comfortable space where we can look out over the courtyard and inside museum.

Then after we enjoyed watching the permanent exhibition which is on display about Japanese great writers who was related to Setagaya City, we left the museum.

I might incidentally remark that this exhibition will remain open till 6th September. I recommend to this exhibition and to visit this museum because I think every visitors can enjoy this facility without distinction of age or sex.

And... I express my thanks to my sister who asked me to this exhibition!! Arigato~!!!

The Star Festival in 2009 / 七夕 [Life]

Today is July 7th, the Star Festival called "Tanabata".
People write their wishes on small colorful slips of papers called "Tanzaku" and tie them to bamboo trees to decorate them. What kind of wishes have you written on "Tanzaku"?

The night sky of Tanabata

Unfortunately, I couldn't see the Milky Way. In fact, I could hardly see any stars.
However, the moon that floated on the clouds of the night sky was very fantastic.

I wish your wish comes true!
