Revitalization of Ukiyoe Exhibition / よみがえる浮世絵展 [Art&Design]

10月中旬になってようやく秋晴れの日が続くようになりました。読書、食欲、スポーツの秋…、そしてなんと言っても芸術の秋到来ですね。

The second half of October continues beautiful clear autumn days throughout Japan. Autumn has come that is the best season for reading, sports, eating, and art!

さて今日は、江戸東京博物館にて開催されている特別展「よみがえる浮世絵ーうるわしき大正新版画展」を見に行ってきました。

Well, I went to the Edo-Tokyo Museum today to see the special exhibition called "Beautiful Shin-hanga-Revitalization of Ukiyo-e".

ご存知の方も多いと思いますが、私の作品は浮世絵や版画に影響を受けていることも多く、浮世絵のもつ色彩感覚、構図、制作過程等から学ぶ事は未だに数多くあります。今回の展覧会は、大正から昭和初期に発展した新版画（江戸時代の浮世絵版画と同様の技法によって制作された木版画）の作品が数多く展示されています。

As you know, Ukiyo-e and woodblock print worlds had a little influence on my work. I always learn many things from their field about the sense of color, composition, process of creating, and so on. Quite a few works of Shin-hanga which is the woodblock prints that were produced from Taisho to early Showa periods (1915-1942), utilizing the traditional techniques developed in the production of ukiyo-e prints during the Edo period (1603-1868), are being shown at this exhibition.

やはり、百聞は一見に如かず…、ですね。
職人の精微な仕事ぶりはもちろん、多くの工程や人の汗を超えて生み出される作品の力強さにはただただ目を見張るばかりでした。

One picture is worth a thousand words...
I opened my eyes wide because I could learn the craftsman's method of working and also saw the forceful expression works which went through various processes of manufacture putting so much effort by many craftsmen.

Completion of Father's Work! [Art&Design]

突如実家の玄関付近に登場したSL（C62）模型。なんと昨日完成したばかりの父の力作です。

This is the model of SL (Steam Locomotive / C62 type) which appeared suddenly around the entrance of my parents' house. The fact is, it was made by father which is a work of great effort. And he has just completed it yesterday.

いわゆる雑誌の企画モノではあるものの、2年以上の月日をかけて制作したものだとか。
所々パーツを自作したり、改造してみたりと、本人のこだわりが随所に散りばめられており、男のロマンを感じます。ちなみに車輪は動き、機関車の汽笛音も出るというこだわりよう。

私も2年程前に、実際のSLに乗りに行ったこともあるので、乗車した時のワクワク感や、古き良き時代への郷愁とでもいうのか、そういった気持ちはなんとなく分かるような気がします。制作そのものも面白そうだし…（笑）。

制作過程を時折見かけていたけれど、楽しんで制作しているさまが（見ている側としては）何よりも嬉しかったですね。

ともあれ、完成おめでとうございます！

Although this work is the so-called concept-oriented serial magazine's works, it took more than 2 years to complete it. He tried to make some parts by himself and converted. We can see his care with the details everywhere. I felt man's adventurous spirit. In this connection, it is able to move the wheel of a vehicle and sounds a whistle.

Because I went for trip to get on the SL about 2 years ago, I can somehow feel some feelings of exciting when I get on the SL, and nostalgia for the good old days. Of course, the creation itself also seems to be interesting... lol

Although I saw the process of his making once in a while, I really feel happy to see his enjoyable face.

Anyway... Congratulations on completion!

Doraemon's Birthday [Art&Design]

Gooogle日本版のトップページを見てびっくり。なんと、ドラえもんが！2112年9月3日生まれの設定というドラえもん、今日が誕生日なのだとか。知りませんでした…。

さりげなく、ドラえもんのひみつ道具があしらわれているのが面白いですね〜。

I was surprised when I saw the top page of Japanese edition of Google. To my surprise, it was "Doraemon"! ("Doraemon" is well-known as Japanese famous cartoon character.)
It is set on 3rd September, 2112 as Doraemon's birthday. So, today is his birthday. However, I didn't know about that...

It's interesting that it arranged casually some his devices, "Himitsu Dougu". lol

Setagaya Literary Museum / 世田谷文学館 [Art&Design]

火曜日に梅雨明けした東京、本格的な夏が到来といった感じでしょうか。連日蒸し暑い日々が続いています。

そんな中、週末は日本を代表するエディトリアル・デザイナーとして活躍し、絵本作家としても数多くの作品を残した堀内誠一氏の展覧会を見に、世田谷文学館に行ってきました。

The rainy season has officially ended on last Tuesday in Tokyo. The real summer has begun and it continues heat and humidity.

By the way, I went to the Setagaya Literary Museum this weekend with my sister to see the Seiichi Horiuchi's exhibition who is one of the leading editorial designer and a writer of picture book in Japan.

Seiichi Horiuchi "Tabi-to Ehon-to Design-to"

The exhibition of an art director Seiichi Horiuchi （1932〜1987） is held at Setagaya Literary Museum until 6th September.
He led Japanese culture by designing and directing the girls magazine AN-AN in the 70s , the men's magazine BRUTUS in the 80s, and many other works such as children books and illustrated travel reports. He is an important figure in Japanese culture and design history.

この展覧会はタイトルにもあるように「旅」「絵本」「デザイン」の３つの領域にわたる堀内氏の功績を約200点の作品や資料と共に展示されています。

展示の仕方が工夫されているのでとても見易く、また堀内氏の使用していた画材や制作過程の再現VTR、絵本コーナーなどがあり、見応え十分の内容でした。かつて目にしていた雑誌連載の旅のスケッチや絵本を原画で見る事ができたのはとても嬉しかったですね。堀内氏は達筆な上、小さい文字で文章を書いていることも多く、閲覧用に虫眼鏡が置かれていたのもうなずけます…（笑）。

This exhibition consists of three fields, "trip" "picture book" " design", of his works and is shown about 200 pieces of his works and materials.

They had taken care over the layout of the exhibition, which made it very easy to take in. Also, we could see the materials and design-tools used in painting, and watched a filmed reenactment about how to use those tools by his workmate. Anyway, it was worth seeing. I was very happy that I could have really seen the original works which are picture books and the travel sketches of magazine serials that I've ever read. Mr. Horiuchi had good handwriting and wrote in tiny lettering, so there were some magnifying glasses to see his works for visitors at the museum.

あっという間に数時間が経ち…さすがにお腹がすいたので、見終わった後、1Fの喫茶へ。

After we watched exhibition, we went to the downstairs coffeehouse because we felt hungry.

食事をするスペースからは中庭、そして館内を見渡せるようになっていて、なんともステキな空間です。 It was comfortable space where we can look out over the courtyard and inside museum.

その後常設展示（世田谷区にちなんだ文豪たちがズラリ…）を見て、文学館をあとにしました。

ちなみに堀内誠一氏の企画展は9月6日まで開催されているそうなので、興味のある方にはオススメです。老若男女が集える素敵な空間＆施設ですので、ぜひ！

さいごに、誘ってくれた妹に感謝！ホントにありがとう〜。

Then after we enjoyed watching the permanent exhibition which is on display about Japanese great writers who was related to Setagaya City, we left the museum.

I might incidentally remark that this exhibition will remain open till 6th September. I recommend to this exhibition and to visit this museum because I think every visitors can enjoy this facility without distinction of age or sex.

And... I express my thanks to my sister who asked me to this exhibition!! Arigato~!!!

Father's Day / 夏至、そして父の日。 [Art&Design]

今日は夏至、そして父の日ですね。

父の日と言えば、なぜか母の日ほどメジャーな感じがしないのはなぜだろう…?? 母の日がカーネーションなのに対し、父の日には白いバラを贈るのだということをつい最近知りました…（汗）。

Today is the Summer Solstice and Father's Day, isn't it?

Speaking of Father's Day, it seems to be not famous than Mother's Day. Why...??? It is said that they send carnations on Mother's Day, whereas they send white roses on Father's Day. I didn't know about sending white roses until now...

さて、そんな父の日に向けてナイスな巾着を発見！ Well, I found a good drawstring pouch for "Father's Day". 無印良品で見つけたのですが、なかなか良いアイデア商品だと思います〜。 I found it at Muji shop, I thought it is a good "idea" product.

今年は、実用的なモノを詰めて父にプレゼントしたいと思います...（笑）。

I decided to give practical things, packed in this pouch, as a present for my father this year... :D

Tokyo Midtown / 東京ミッドタウン [Art&Design]

週末、東京ミッドタウンに行ってきました。

昨年3月30日のオープン以来1年以上も経っていますが、一度も訪れたことが無かった私…（汗）。ようやく念願が叶った気分です。

Tokyo Midtown 東京ミッドタウン I went to the Tokyo Midtown this weekend. Though more than a year passed since it opened, I've never been to there... So, at last, my wish has come true.

世界で活躍する建築家らによって設計されたというこの建物。
外観のみならず、100店舗を超える商業施設を巡るだけでもかなり見応えがあります。何時間居ても飽きない感じが素敵でした。

At the GALLERIA (Commercial Wing) 商業施設のあるGALLERIA（ガレリア）にて This building is designed by renowned architects in the world. More than 100 stores as well as the exterior is so spectacular. I thought I could stay there for hours together.

そして、ガレリア3Fにあるサントリー美術館にて『KAZARI』展を見てきました。

And then, I went to see the exhibition of "KAZARI" at the Suntory Museum of Art. (3F GALLERIA)

日本「飾り」の変遷をテーマに、絵画や工芸品のみならず様々なものが見られるので、とても勉強になりました。

興味のある方にはオススメの展覧会かもしれませんね。

This exhibition features the change of Japanese kazari (the act of adorning).
I could learn many things because I could see various kinds of things, paintings, craft, performance art, and so on.

I recommend this exhibition to person who is interested in it.

今回は展覧会目当てだったこともあり、あまり店舗をじっくり見ることができなかったので、次回はぜひ店舗中心に訪れてみたいものです。

This time I couldn't see stores very much, so I hope to see more stores next time.

The Opening of Subway / 副都心線の開通 [Art&Design]

昨日、東京地下鉄（東京メトロ）副都心線が開業しました。
The Tokyo Metro Fukutoshin Line opened yesterday.

和光市〜渋谷間を結ぶこの路線、渋谷のみならず、新宿、池袋と三大副都心を縦断して走ることから「副都心線」と名付けられたとか。

早速初日の様子を見に渋谷駅へ行ってきました。

This subway line runs from Wakou-shi station (Saitama Prefecture) to Shibuya station (Tokyo). It was named Fukutoshin Line because it goes through the subcenter of Tokyo, Shibuya, Shinjuku and Ikebukuro.

Anyway, I went to the Shibuya Station to see the appearance of the opening day.

副都心線は、なんと地下5F！
なかなか辿り着けそうにない感じです…（汗）。

The Fukutoshin Line is the 5th basement!

改札口を抜けると、目の前にドーム型の物体が…。

The Shibuya station is design by Tadao Ando who is architect.
When we pass through the ticket gate, we can see the mysterious dome...

ドームの内側にはエスカレーターがあり、さらに地下へと続きます。

There is an escalator (=moving staircase) in the dome and it continues to underground further.

And then there was a model of the station at the 5th basement...!

一通り見学を終えた私は、急行に乗って2駅（約10分）、池袋駅へ。

At the Ikebukuro station 池袋駅にて After I looked around the Shibuya station, I took the Express train and went to the Ikebukuro station. (About 10 mins / 2 stops)

副都心線では渋谷〜小竹向原間の各駅で、転落防止用のホームドア（可動式ホーム柵）があります。

そういえば、初日のせいか、何度も停止位置修正をしている電車に遭遇しましたね…（笑）。

I often saw the scene that the subway modified the stop position. Maybe because of the opening day??

A ticket I used at that day (Coupon Ticket) 当日使用したチケット（回数券） 私が訪れた駅はどこも混雑していましたが、束の間の旅を満喫することができました。 Though each station where I went was busy, I could enjoy this short trip.

落ち着いた頃にでも、また行ってみようと思います。
I'd like to go there again when the busy season has gone.

Great Eraser Engraver / 偉大な消しゴム版画家 [Art&Design]

パルコファクトリー（東京・渋谷）で明日まで開催中の『ナンシー関　大ハンコ展』に行ってきました。

I went for the retrospective exhibition of "Nancy Seki's Eraser Prints" which is open till tomorrow at Shibuya Parco Factory.

2002年に39歳の若さで急逝した、消しゴム版画家にしてコラムニストであったナンシー関さんの回顧展で、彼女の消しゴム版画の原版5,000個強とコラムニストとして執筆された誌面等がズラリ大集合。

それにしても消しゴムの原版は思っていた以上に小さく、大体5センチ四方ぐらいのものばかり。見れば見る程、彼女の仕事の緻密さ、正確さが伺えます。（中には１センチ四方ぐらいの原版もあったりして…。人の顔がきちんと掘られていてビックリ！）

彼女の生み出す作品はどこかあったかくて、好きだったなあ。
思わずクスッと笑ってしまう作品ばかりで、とにかく楽しい展覧会でした。

This retrospective exhibition is the work of eraser engraver and columnist Nancy Seki who died suddenly in the youth of 39 years old in 2002. More than 5,000 original erasers and her columns are displayed.

When I saw the original erasers, I was very surprised at their size. Most of the erasers' size were 5 cm square!! To my surprise, there was an about 1 cm square small original eraser which the face of the person was carved properly.
Though she produced and wrote sarcastic and witty essays, we can feel her kindly mind. I gave a short smile many times .

I enjoyed and admired her works very much at this exhibition.

In the Shōwa period style / 昭和レトロの街 [Art&Design]

青梅駅＆駅周辺は昭和の町ということで、市をあげて街全体がレトロ化されています。

At the surrounding of Ōme Station (located in Ōme city) & station, the entire town is filled with a Shōwa period's retrospective atmosphere. It mainly refer to the Shōwa '30s-'40s (1955-1974).

	At the Ōme station　青梅駅にて 駅では、装飾的な看板や時計が目を引きます。
	There are some decorative things at the station. For example, display, sign, clock, and so on...

そして、街中では懐かしさが漂う看板が…。
And I could see good old shop signs in town...

商店街のいたるところで、昔の映画看板があり、見ているだけでも面白い…。今度はじっくりと街並を拝見したいものです。

Since there is an old movies signboard everywhere in the shopping district, I think they can enjoy very much. I couldn't see everything this time, so I hope to go there sometime again.

Traditional Design at Ōme Taisai (Part2) [Art&Design]

前回 に続き、今回はお祭りの衣装にスポットをあててみたいと思います。

I'd like to focus on the fashion of Ōme Taisai this time.

Traditional Costumes at the Japanese Festival お祭りの衣装 青梅大祭では山車同様、町ごとに衣装が違っていて、なかなか興味深いものでした。 模様や文様、そして色など、見どころ満載です。

The festive costume was very interesting as well as the floats, because clothes were different in each town. For example, design, pattern, color, and so on.

	特に目を引いたのがこの法被（ハッピ）。 Especially, this design of happi coat caught my eye.
	足下を見てみると…この足袋！紅白の組み合わせとは素晴らしい〜。 When I saw their feet..., what a nice tabi! Cool!!

そして、小物類も充実。　And then, pouches were various, too...

留め具にお多福の顔とはびっくり。手を抜いていないんですね。
先人のこだわりに、改めて感服した私です。

I wondered to see the pouch's hook which has Otafuku's face. Otafuku (or Okame) is one of the Japanese traditional masks.
I admire the ancestor's works again.

Traditional Design at Ōme Taisai (Part1) [Art&Design]

お祭りというのは日本の伝統的なデザインを学べる場所だったりします。前回紹介した青梅大祭でも然り…。

I think the festival may be the opportunity of learning the Japanese traditional design. I could also learn at the Ōme Taisai which I wrote at the last weblog.

様々な山車が行き交うこのお祭りではいろいろな意匠に出会いました。

I saw many designs at this festival that many floats come and go.

木彫が凝っていたり…、 For example, the float with rich carving...,

天井に鶴が描かれたものがあったり…、 the picture of cranes drawn in ceiling...,

提灯や刺繍が凝っているものなど、
見ているだけでも楽しい！

the elaborated Japanese lanterns, embroideries, and so on.

綱の色使いも素敵ですね。 Coloring of the rope is also wonderful.

そして極めつけは、山車の後ろ姿。 And, finally, the back figure of the festival floats were so nice.

山車もいろいろ…。
先人たちが残した普遍的な美しさに感服です。

There were various floats...
I admire the ancestor's works, and the universal beauty.

Xmas Illuminations in Shinjuku (Tokyo) [Art&Design]

新宿駅南口周辺ではきらびやかなイルミネーションが展開されています。
まずは、新宿サザンテラス側から。

The gorgeous illuminations are held around the Shinjuku Station south exit.
First I went to the side of the "Shinjuku southern terrace".

JR東日本本社ビルでは、Suicaのペンギンのツリーも！

There are some penguins trees at the East Japan Railway (JR-East) Company's building.
This penguin is a symbol on brands of the JR-East's "Suica (=rechargeable contactless smart card)".

そして新宿タカシマヤ側へ。
And then I went to the side of the "Takashimaya Shinjuku Store".

今年も残りわずかですね。　The year is almost over!

Railroad Crossing Warning Signs [Art&Design]

今ではほとんど見かけることがなくなった、旧式「踏切あり」の標識。

This is an old-fashioned railroad crossing warning sign in Japan which we can hardly find recently.

Near the Chichibu Railway's railroad crossing　秩父鉄道沿線にて

蒸気機関車（汽車）の絵が描かれた標識は、なんとも味わい深い限り。いいですね〜。

The sign with which the steam locomotive was drawn is tasteful and nice. I like it very much!

Nostalgic Railroad Vehicle / 懐かしの電車 [Art&Design]

前回の秩父鉄道SLの旅では、懐かしい車輌に出会いました。
1000形（旧国鉄101系）と呼ばれる車輌だそうで、今なお現役で活躍しています。

During my trip of the steam locomotive at Chichibu Railway which I introduced it last time, I saw some good old railroad vehicles.

At the Mitsumineguchi station 三峰口駅にて They are called the 1000 series (formerly JNR 101 series), and they are still in use.

Konzerthaus Berlin in Germany [Art&Design]

妹がブログでベルリンのコンツェルトハウスで演奏してきたことにふれています。今回はそのホールの話を…。

My sister has mentioned about the "Konzerthaus Berlin" in her weblog that she performed there the other day. So I think that I'd like to talk about the hall this time.

Konzerthaus Berlin ベルリンのコンツェルトハウス

私が昨年春にベルリンに行った際、観光がてら立ち寄ったのがこの建物。公演案内を眺めていたところ、館内ツアーがあることを発見。さっそく予約し、後日参加することに。あいにくタイミングが合わずドイツ語によるツアーだったので（←英語版も有）、固有名詞や音楽用語以外何を話しているのか全く分からなかったのですが、それなりに楽しめるものでした。

When I went to Berlin, I called at this building as sightseeing. While I was watching the concert's leaflet, I found the guided tour. I booked that tour immediately, and a few days later I joined in.

The scene of guided tours ガイドツアーの様子 Regrettably, this guided tour was in German (of course the English version also exists), so that I couldn't understand almost everything except musical words and proper noun. However, I enjoyed it very much.

ドイツの新古典主義を代表する建築家、カルル・フリードリッヒ・シンケル（Karl Friedrich Schinkel）の代表的作品としても有名なこの建物はもとは劇場として1818〜1821年の間に建てられました。数度の内部改装と第二次世界大戦終戦の年の完全破壊、1979〜1984年の再建を経て、現在は外観のみですが、シンケルの作品として味わうことができるようです。

The Konzerthaus Berlin was built as a theatre between 1818 and 1821 by Karl Friedrich Schinkel who was a foremost German neo-classical architect. The interior of the building had changed several times and was completely destroyed at the end of World War II in 1945. Then this building was given an entirely new interior by reconstruction between 1979 and 1984. Nowadays we can see only the exterior of the building as Schinkel's work.

ツアーも終盤にさしかかったところ、運良く大ホールでのパイプオルガン演奏のリハーサルに遭遇。生の音を聞くことができ、ちょっと感激。荘厳な響きだったことを未だに覚えています。

Mailbox in Hakone [Art&Design]

箱根で見かけたポストたち。
10月からの民営化でどうなるのかと思っていたら、こうなっていたんですね。

I saw some mailboxes around Hakone.
After the Postal privatization from this month, I wondered what has become of the mailbox.

Things Japanese in Summer / 蚊遣豚 [Art&Design]

日本の夏の風物詩とも言える、蚊遣豚（or 蚊遣り豚）。
線香の香りと共に夏を感じる一品です。

"Kayari-buta (蚊遣豚=a pig-shaped mosquito coil's container)" which is one of the things Japanese in summer. It is an article that feels summer with the smell of the mosquito coils.

それにしてもなかなか愛嬌のある姿ですよね。
Anyway it is a lovely shape, isn't it?

Tea of the PET Bottle in Seoul [Art&Design]

韓国・ソウルを旅した際に購入した２つのお茶（緑茶と健康茶）。
日本同様、お砂糖無しのストレート。芳醇な味わいです。

These are two tea beverages I bought when I traveled to Seoul.
The taste is straight without sugar same as Japan. It is mellow taste.

そして、つい気になってしまうのがパッケージ。
漢字やひらがな、カタカナと違う、ハングル文字のインパクトに魅せられてしまいます。

And I always feel like checking PET bottle's packages and indications...
I was interested in their effective indications written by the Hangul (=Korean) alphabet which is different from the Chinese character, Hiragana (the Japanese cursive syllabary), and Katakana.

ふとアメリカで飲んだペットボトルのウーロン茶を思い出してしまいました。あちらのお茶は甘いのが主流らしい…（汗）。

I recalled the oolong tea of PET bottle that I had drunk in USA.
Each tea is sweet taste with sugar, and it seems to be mainstream...??

Young Power / 若手のチカラ [Art&Design]

妹の誘いを受け、渋谷のパルコミュージアムで開催中の「シアタープロダクツの現場」展に行ってきました。

『シアタープロダクツ』とはデザイナーの武内昭、中西妙佳に企画・プレス担当の金森香（すべて敬称略）が加わり、2001年に設立されたアパレルメーカー。若手３人のユニットです。

I went for the exhibition of "Theatre Products no Genba" which is now open at Shibuya Parco Museum.

"Theater Products" is a fashion brand that was founded in 2001 by Akira Takeuchi (Designer), Tayuka Nakanishi (Designer) and Kao Kanamori (PR and Planning Manager). It's three young person's unit.

29日までの会期中（18日間）、仕事現場がそのまま会場に移動し、打ち合わせ風景など制作の日常が公開されるという何とも大胆な企画。
中でも「スカートの森」というインスタレーションが面白かったですね。天井から大量にぶら下がっているスカートの間を迷路のようにくぐり抜けて行くのですが、感覚が何とも不思議でした。

今後の活躍が期待できるユニットですね。

A very bold plan that during this exhibition (until 29th; 18 days), their office moves to a meeting place. So we can see the daily work, meeting scenery, and so on.
Above all, the installation named "Skirt no mori (=the woods of skirts)" was interesting. When I had passed through a large mount of hanging skirts (like a maze!), I felt it was mysterious.

It is a very promising unit!

Illuminations in Omotesando (Tokyo) [Art&Design]

前回に引き続き、東京のイルミネーションをご紹介。
８年ぶりにライトアップが復活した『表参道アカリウム』です。

I'll show you the illuminations in Tokyo as a sequel to the last time. The lighting has revived after an interval of eight years. The name is "omotesando akarium".

木に直接ライティングを施した以前の姿とはがらりと変わり、行灯（あんどん）風。随分と雰囲気が変わりました。
It looks like "Andon(=Japanese Lantern)". An atmosphere changed very much.(before : tree light up style)

そして今年２月にオープンした『表参道ヒルズ（設計：安藤忠雄氏）』を通過…。行き交う人々が明かりに照らされるさまは何とも幻想的です。

And I passed by the "Omotesando Hills (Architect by Tadao Ando)" that opened in February this year.
The coming and going people who are lighted up by lights is very visionary.

Xmas Decorations in Tokyo [Art&Design]

早いもので今年も残りわずか２週間。
街のあちこちでさまざまな装飾やイルミネーションを見かけるようになりました。

This year went so fast. There are only 2weeks in this year.
By the way, we can see various decorations and the illuminations here and there.

Mailbox in Japan (Extra Chapter) [Art&Design]

日本の郵便ポストおまけ編です。
This time is the extra chapter of Japanese mailbox.

東京の銀座で見かけたポストは藍色。
The post which I saw around Ginza (Tokyo) was indigo blue. It's very rare color in Japan.

そして、六本木ヒルズ周辺で見かけたポストは、なんとグレー！

I thought this one had merged completely in the scenery.

Mailbox in Narita International Airport [Art&Design]

日本の郵便ポストについては以前お伝えしましたが、今回はその続編。
成田国際空港のポストです。

I've picked up the mailbox topics for several times so far.
I'll show you the mailbox of the Narita International Airport (Japan) this time.

それにしても空港のポストは、ひと味もふた味も違って面白い…。

The slots are for "Overseas Mail" and "Inland Mail". Though it is so if it is said it is natural...
Anyway, the mailbox in airport is very intersting to me because it is little different from the normal mailbox.

空港での一コマ。再びカート編です。
『使用上の注意』の表示方法にご注目。

I'll show you the cart of the airport again.
The part of "Instructions for use" is interesting.

まずは韓国から。First of all, it's from Korea.

Mailbox in Korea [Art&Design]

私は旅に出ると、旅先から出来る限り毎日、自分宛に絵ハガキを送るようにしています。絵日記代わりにもなるし、何よりその土地ならではの記録が残るので、これはオススメ。

しかし、ソウル滞在の際はいつもの旅のようにはいかなかった…。
絵ハガキを売っているところがなかなか見つからない…のです。
特に滞在初日は困り果て、郵便局で唯一売っていた切手付き絵ハガキを購入しました。←あっただけマシか…。

When I go on a journey, I always send postcards to oneself as much as possible everyday. It becomes instead of a picture diary and recording many local information, so I recommend this style.

But during my stay in Seoul, it was not easy to find the place that sold postcards...
Especially it bothered me the first day in Seoul. At last I bought a postcard (with the stamp) which was sold only at the post office. It was better than nothing??

Art and Design Week / 芸術の秋 [Art&Design]

友人の誘いもあって、久々展覧会に足を運んで参りました。
中でも印象的だったものを２つ紹介します。

まず、六本木AXISギャラリーにて11/5（日）まで開催されていた「吉岡徳仁展　スーパーファイバーレボリューション」。
雲が浮いているような空間に、今年のミラノサローネ（＊）で注目を浴びた「PANE chair」があちこちに展示されており、自由に触れることができます。
（＊）…イタリアで毎年春に開催される国際家具見本市

I went to some　exhibitions after a long time by my friend's invitation. I'll show two impressive exhibitions.

For one thing, it's "Tokujin Yoshioka - Super Fiber Revolution" which were held until 5th November at AXIS gallery in Roppongi (Tokyo) .
This space looked like "cloud", and there were several "PANE chair" which were in the spotlight at the "Salone Internazionale del Mobile" in this year. All visitors could touch them.

何よりも座る人の体型の大小を問わないのが素晴らしい。
実際に座ってみると、ふわふわと包まれる感じで気持ちイイ…。
当日は最終日だったこともあり、大勢の観客でひしめきあっていました。
吉岡氏ご本人も会場にいらして、購入した作品集にサインをしていただけることに。
憧れの先輩に出会えて嬉しかったですね。いろいろパワーを頂いた気がします。

It's wonderful not to restrict all visitor's size of figure when they sit down.
When I sat down actually, I felt so comfortable because it was fluffy.
Because of the last day, there were many visitors.
Fortunately, I met Mr.Yoshioka and he signed his autograph to the collection of his works titled "Tokujin Yoshioka Design (Phaidon Press)" which I bought. I was grad to have met the senior of the same design school. His works gave me a lot of power.

もう一つは森美術館の「ビル・ヴィオラ：はつゆめ」展。
絵画がそのまま映像になったような世界…。思わず息を呑む場面も。
生と死を長年テーマにされているだけあって、作品は時に哲学的であり、感銘を受けつつも、深く考えさせられました。

For another, it's "Bill Viola : Hatsu-Yume (First Dream)" which is now open at Mori Art Museum.
He's been using "Life" and "Death" as his subjects for long time. His works were very impressive and philosophical for me and I dropped into deep thought.

Changdeokgung Palace / 昌徳宮（ソウル） [Art&Design]

1997年にユネスコの世界文化遺産として登録された昌徳宮（チャンドックン）。カルテットメンバー＆先に韓国入りしていた父らと共に見学してきました。
ガイドと共に観覧するシステムのため、各言語（韓国語・日本語・英語・中国語）ごとにガイドツアー（所要時間約90分）が用意されています。

The Changdeokgung Palace in Seoul had UNESCO listing as a World Heritage in 1997. I went to there with Quartet's members and father who had been in Korea ahead of me.
All visitors are required to join a guided tour led by the Changdeokgung's stuff. There are some language's tours which duration of each admission is about 90mins; Korean, Japanese, English, Chinese.

昌徳宮は、周辺の自然環境ともすばらしい調和をなしており、とにかく見応え十分！1989年まで李方子（イ・バンジャ）妃が暮らしていた楽善斎（ナクソンジェ）という建物もありました。
日本の建築様式や色合いが似ているものもあって、親しみやすかったですね。

The Changdeokgung Palace amalgamated in perfect harmony with the surrounding natural environment, so it was spectacular. There is Nakseonjae Area which resided by the last crown prince(Yi Bang-ja) until her death in 1989.
I felt friendly atmosphere, because they sometimes looked like old Japanese styles and colors.

Mailbox in Japan / 郵便ポスト(日本編) [Art&Design]

前回につづき、郵便ポスト日本編です。
The sequel to the Mailbox topics. This time is Japan.
The collection day and time are indicated by side of mailbox.

Very Old Type Mailbox 1 Insert Type 今では殆ど見かけなくなった昔のポスト。妹夫婦の話によると、東京都小平市では現役で数多く活躍中とのこと。オドロキです。

投函口は、左が手紙・はがき用、右が速達・国際郵便・電子郵便・大型郵便物用（←小型郵便物と同じサイズ）。
大型の書類はいつも折らないと入らないというクセモノです…。
2 Inserts Type; left side is for letters and postcards, right side is for Nonstandard-sized Mail, Express Mail, Electronic Mail, International Mail. Both inserts are same size, so it's very inconvenient when we insert Nonstandard-sized Mail. (Need to bend~)

Mailbox in Belgium / 郵便ポスト(ベルギー編) [Art&Design]

ベルギーでは日本と同じ赤い郵便ポストが使われています。次回の集荷時間がはっきり分かるように表示されているのが特徴。

In Belgium, they use red color mailbox which is same as Japan. It is the feature that it is indicated the next collection time clearly.

Litter Bin / ゴミ箱いろいろ [Art&Design]

旅先で出会ったゴミ箱たち。色や形の美しいものが何と多いこと！
置かれる空間も計算されたデザインがなんとも頼もしい。

I'll show some litter bins which I found on journey. There are a lot of nice colors and forms. I think they seem the design based on the space.

ブリュッセル市内で見かけたビン等のリサイクル回収ボックス。高さが150cm位あったでしょうか…。かなり大きいです。
These are recycling bins. (For Wines, Beers, Beverage... and so on) They are so high about 150cm.

Edo-Tokyo Tatemono-en / 江戸東京たてもの園 [Art&Design]

お盆休みを利用して妹夫婦と東京・小金井市にある『江戸東京たてもの園』に行ってきました。
ここでは、現地保存が不可能となった歴史的建造物が多数、移築・復元・保存されています。

I went to "Edo-Tokyo Tatemono-en (Open Air Architectural Museum)" with my middle sister and her husband in Bon-vacation. "Edo-Tokyo Tatemono-en" preserves and exhibits a lot of precious cultural buildings which cannot be preserved where they stand.

靴を脱いで家の中を見ることができるので、ちょっとした“建物探訪”気分が味わえます。

比較的人が少なかったこともあり、のんびりと眺めることができて満足！

また園内には、宮崎アニメ『千と千尋の神隠し』に登場 する油屋（湯屋）のモデルとなった『子宝湯』があります。
It is the model of bath which is the Japanese famous animation "Spirited Away".

Hand-made noodles(=UDON) 手打ち武蔵野うどん

店蔵型休憩棟が園内にあり、昼食にいただきました。
生ゆば・桜えび・みょうが・かつおぶし・ネギなどがのっていて、冷たいつゆを上からかけます。
とにかく美味！暑い夏にはもってこいのメニューですね。
There is a "Udon" restaurant which looks like warehouse type building in "Edo-Tokyo Tatemono-en".
We ate "Hand-made Udon" with cold soup. It was so delicious!

ともあれ、また行ってみたいと思わせるステキな場所でした。
薦めてくれた義弟に感謝！
"Edo-Tokyo Tatemono-en" was woderful place, so I want to go there again. Thanks to my brother(-in-law)!

Beer Coaster [Art&Design]

前回のつづきで、コースターをご紹介。
グラスと同じく、デザインや種類が豊富で、見ていてとても楽しい。
お店や商品の紹介も兼ねていて、ちょっとした名刺がわりですね。

I'll show some beer coasters as the sequel to the last entry.
They excited me very much, because there are various sorts of coasters as well as drinking glasses.
They serve as introduction of drink and restaurant, so I think they look like business cards or postcards.

Typical Signal for Pedestrians in Tokyo (Japan)

下はドイツでよく見かけたタイプです。
These are probably typical Pedestrian Traffic Lights at crossings in Germany.

そしてベルリンで出会った信号機…。

"AMPELMANN" in Berlin 『アンペルマン』（ベルリン）

旧東ドイツ生まれのアンペルメンヒェン（＝歩行者用信号の人型マーク）『アンペルマン』は、交通心理学者のカール・ペグラウ氏によって考案され、ドイツ統一後、一度は消え去る運命に。
旧西ドイツやEU仕様の人型デザインに変貌していく中で、旧東ドイツの日常を物語る象徴であり親しみやすさと実用性を兼ね備えたこのマークの復活を望む声は次第と高まっていき、10年ほど前、ついに復活！
今では専門グッズショップもあります。
そもそもベルリン在住の方からこの話を聞き、調べてみた『アンペルマン』。公共デザインの在り方について、改めて考えさせられました…。
"AMPELMANN" is one of the Ampelmännchen (=a little man on the traffic signal in German word meaning)" in Germany.
The "AMPELMANN" was created in 1961 by traffic psychologist Karl Peglau in East Germany.

Cart in Airport [Art&Design]

空港にあるアイテムは私のプロダクトゴゴロをくすぐるものばかり…。
そんな中出会ったカートたち。

In Airport Products always greatly excite me.
So, I'll show some carts there.

アクセントカラーの青が効いていますね。
A point color of blue is nice and good for these.

Unité d'habitation de Berlin [Art&Design]

７月９日のブログでも少し触れた建築家ル・コルビュジエ(1887-1965)1957年の作品、集合住宅『ベルリンのユニテ・ダビタシオン』。
同時期の作品に東京・上野の国立西洋美術館があります。

色使いが印象的ですね。I was impressed by color.

S-Bahn Olympiastadion　Olympiastadion駅
敷地内からはS-Bahn Olympiastadion駅が見えます。
We can see the "Olympiastadion (station)" on the premises.

住んでいる人がちょっぴり羨ましくなったそんな建物でした…。
I was a little envious of this residence~.
