The Coming of the Festival Season / 祭りの季節 [Life]

９月に入り、日本各地で秋祭りが開催されています。
週末の下北沢でも秋祭りが開催され、なんとも賑やかな雰囲気。

昨日の日曜日、少しだけ雰囲気をのぞいてきました。

The autumn festival is held all over the country since the beginning of this month. In my hometown Shimo-kitazawa, an autumn festival was held on last weekend. The atmosphere of the festival was very lively.

I dropped in on for a while this festival Sunday afternoon (yesterday).

At Kitazawa-Hachimangu (=Shrine's Name)　北澤八幡宮にて 残念なことに時間の都合で神輿は見られず…。過去のブログで雰囲気だけでもどうぞ。

Regrettably, I couldn't see the portable shrines due to having no time. So, please refer to the past weblog.

街の再開発が進み、変わりゆく下北沢、そして変わらぬ祭の姿。 いろいろと感慨深いものがありますね…。

Shimo-kitazawa has been changing for redevelopment now. However, the appearance of the festival never changes.

Beer! Beer! Beer! [Life]

連日暑い日が続きますね。
ビール好きにはたまらない季節でもあります。

It's been hot day after day, doesn't it?
However, the person who likes beer very much is dying for a drink during this season.

The Belgian white beer "Hoegaarden (ヒューガルテン)" 今日友人とぶらりと立ち寄ったBARで注文したベルギーの白ビール『Hoegaarden』。 本場ベルギーと同じ巨大グラスに注がれて来たので、思わず感激！

When I dropped by the BAR with friend today, I found the Belgian white beer, "Hoegaarden". It was served with huge glass the same as Belgian style, I was very impressed!

とはいえ、飲み過ぎには注意しましょう…（笑）。
Anyway, be careful not to drink too much... lol

Special Attraction of Summer / 夏の風物詩 [Life]

昨日は暦でいうところの立秋。そしてもう残暑です。

Yesterday was "Risshū (立秋=the first day of autumn) " by the traditional East Asian calendars (24 solar terms). And we say "Zansho (残暑=the late summer heat)" from that day.

そんな中、夏の風物詩とも言える阿波踊りの光景に出くわしました。 By the way, I ran into the scene of "Awa Odori (阿波踊り=Awa Dance Festival)" which is one of the special attractions of summer in Japan.

暦の上ではもう秋ですが、本格的な夏はこれからですね。

According to the calendar, although it has been already autumn, the real summer is from now!

Summer Barbecue Party / 夏のBBQパーティ [Life]

週末は、友人のバーベキュー・パーティーに招かれ、神奈川県の葉山へ行ってきました。3年前の11月以来の訪問です。

I was invited to the Barbecue Party of my friend last weekend, so I went to her house at Hayama in Kanagawa Prefecture. 3 years have passed since I visited in November 2006.

京浜急行で新逗子駅へ。 そこからバスに揺られて十数分、緑豊かで海岸にほど近い友人宅を目指します。 First of all, I went to the Shinzushi station by Keikyu Line. Then I got on a bus for about 10 minutes and walked to my destination where it is rich green and is near the seacoast.

到着後は、友人らと一緒にせっせと準備。
いよいよスタートです。

After arriving, I joined preparing with friends.
At long last the barbecue began.

私たちの願いが叶ってか、心配された天候も、曇り空から晴れ間が出るまでに。すっかりバーベキュー日和となりました。 Although we worried about the weather, it changed from an overcast sky to an interval of clear weather. So, it was an ideal weather for the barbecue.

そして今回もいただきました、W家特製サングリア！

I drank Mrs.W's Homemade "Sangria" (=Spanish Red Wine Punch) this time also.

食べて、飲んで、談笑して…、あっという間に時間は過ぎ…。
すっかり満喫した一日でした。今回もみなさんありがとう!!

We had a great time (eating, drinking, talking...) until it had been very dark. Thanks awfully!

The Star Festival in 2009 / 七夕 [Life]

今日は七夕。
人々は色とりどりの短冊に願い事を書き、それを笹に飾りつける日でもありますが、みなさまはどんな願い事を書かれましたか？

Today is July 7th, the Star Festival called "Tanabata".
People write their wishes on small colorful slips of papers called "Tanzaku" and tie them to bamboo trees to decorate them. What kind of wishes have you written on "Tanzaku"?

今年も残念ながら天の川どころか星すら拝めませんでしたが、夜空の雲の上に浮かぶ月は、なんとも幻想的でした。

Unfortunately, I couldn't see the Milky Way. In fact, I could hardly see any stars.
However, the moon that floated on the clouds of the night sky was very fantastic.

Rainy Season in 2009 [Life]

昨日、関東甲信地方は梅雨入りしました。今年は、平年より2日遅いのだとか。

The rainy season has officially begun in Kanto region yesterday. It seems to have begun 2 days later than an ordinary year.

ジメジメとした季節到来ですが、今年も紫陽花が見頃となりました。
美しい姿に気分が癒されますね〜。

Although the damp season has come again, the hydrangeas are at their best now.
When I see them, I feel relax on their beauty~.

Reunion with Sisters in 2009 / 妹たちとの再会 [Life]

スイス在住の妹が演奏会のために一時帰国し、束の間の東京滞在だというので、昨晩は久しぶりに姉妹３人で夕食を食べに行くことになりました。

My youngest sister who lives in Switzerland has returned temporarily to Japan for performing at the concert, and her stay in Tokyo was a passing moment, so that we met together last night.

3人が揃うのは約半年ぶり。一番下の妹のリクエストで和食処へ。

We met after a half year's absence. We went to the Japanese-style food tavern where my youngest sister had wanted to go.

注文した料理はどれも素材が新鮮で美味しく、思わずお酒も進みます。
そんな中…、

Each dish we ordered was fresh ingredients and so tasty that we enjoyed drinking.
Well...,

	食べていた牡蠣の殻の間からなんと小さなカニが！ When I was eating some oysters, I found a small crab between the oyster's shell.
	あまりにもかわいらしい登場だったので、牡蠣の上に乗せてみる…（笑）。 It was so cute appearance, so that I put it onto the oyster. lol

それにしても話は尽きないもので、あっという間に数時間が過ぎ…。
私たちは久々の再会を楽しんだのでした。

We couldn't stop talking easily, so time flashed by.
We enjoyed reunion after a long time.

New Workmate / 私の新しい相棒。 [Life]

ここ数年コンピュータの技術サポートや保守に関わる仕事が多いのですが、縁あってこの４月からは、新しい職場でさらに経験を活かすことになりました。今までネットワーク関連に疎かったこともあり、日々勉強…です。

I work as a computer technical support and preventive maintenance staff for the last several years or so. And I have been making good use of my experience at my new workplace from this April. I know little of the network field, so I have to learn more about it every day.

さて、ようやく仕事にも慣れてきた大型連休直前、それは起こりました。

約５年間私の右腕として大活躍してくれていた『PowerBook G4』、今年に入ってから時々動作が不安定になるので、順次バックアップ作業を進めていたところでしたが、ちょうど一段落した頃、ついに調子が悪くなったのです。

メーカーにも相談したのですが、根幹の修理が必要とのことで、紆余曲折の末、ついにこのノートパソコンの現役引退、そして後継機種『MacBook Pro』の新規購入を決意しました。

Well, it happened just before the consecutive holidays when I gradually have acclimated myself to a new place of work.

As my workmate "PowerBook G4" sometimes ran changeably from the beginning of this year, I had been making a copy for backup until comparatively recently. However, it became inoperative at last.

When I consulted a maker about this matter, it was found to need the repairing of the fundamental parts in the result. I decided not to use this laptop as a main and to buy a new one, "MacBook Pro", after many twists and turns.

手前が『PowerBook G4』、奥が新たに仲間入りした『MacBook Pro』 The near side is "PowerBook G4" and the back is "MacBook Pro".

ところでこの『MacBook Pro』、CPUが 『PowerBook G4』の “PowerPC” から “Intel Core2 Duo” へと変わったため、それまで使用していたアプリケーションソフトは使えないものが多く、別途購入することに。思いがけず、手痛い出費…。とほほ。
でも実際に使ってみると、この新しい相棒は、とにかくサクサク動いてくれる上、とても静か。操作しているのがとても楽しい感じです。

一方、昨年の個展の際にも大活躍してくれた『PowerBook G4』は、今後きちんと修理してサブとして利用できるようにはしたいと思案中。Mac OS9が使える最後の機種ですしね…（笑）。（ちなみに最新OSはMac OSXです。）

しばらくはコンピュータでも新しい環境に慣れるべく、格闘することになりそうです…。

By the way, the CPU of "MacBook Pro" has changed from "PowerPC (PowerBook G4)" to "Intel Core2 Duo”.
Most of the application softwares of former CPU do not work in the new CPU environment. For that reason I had to buy new application softwares. it required vast expenditure, so I became worried. Oh, woe is me!

But when I tried to using, the new workmate (computer programs) runs at a rapid pace and quietly. I always enjoy operating.

On the other hand, I'm thinking to repair "PowerBook G4" which did great thing at my solo exhibition last year and then to use it as a secondary computer. That reason is because this system is last type to be available to use Mac OS9. (The latest OS is Mac OSX.)

I feel like wrestling with the new workmate for the present...

Enjoying Seeing the Cherry Blossoms in 2009 [Life]

最近はやたら桜の写真＆ネタばかりですが…（笑）。
ま、仕方ないですよね、一年で最も美しい時期なのですから。

I unduly write about Sakura topics these days... :P
Anyway it's an unavoidable thing because it's a best beautiful season.

	昨日は満開の桜を見に、久々クゥちゃんと実家周辺を散歩してきました。 I strolled around my parents' home with Coo-chan to see the full-bloomed cherry trees yesterday.
	絶好のお花見日和だったこともあり、どこも花見客で賑わっておりました。 It was a perfect day for cherry-blossom viewing yesterday, so that everywhere we go, it was alive with people viewing the cherry blossoms.

中には雪のように舞い散る桜もあり、風が吹くとそれはまさに桜吹雪。
その光景は、思わず息を呑む美しさでした。

Some of the cherry blossoms were being scattered in the wind. It was just like snow! So, when I saw that scenery, I caught my breath.

満開を過ぎるとあっという間に散りゆく桜。
この美しさを満喫できるのもあとわずかです。

The cherry blossoms flutter down after they are at their best.
We can enjoy this beauty only a few moments.

Full-bloomed "Sakura" / サクラ満開。 [Life]

桜の開花から12日目の今日、東京では満開日を迎えました。

Somei Yoshino (=a kind of Sakura or Cherry Blossom) was in full bloom in Tokyo today that it was twelfth day from the flowering of it.

一般的に開花から1週間〜10日で満開を迎えるのが、今年は気温が上がらない日が続いたこともあり、遅い満開日となりました。

It is said that generally the cherry tree becomes in full bloom from flowering in around 7-10 days. However, this year it was in full bloom later than usual because the temperature stayed low for a while.

Anyway we seem to be able to enjoy a cherry tree for a long time this year! :D

Spring Has Come! / 春が来た！ [Life]

東京では21日に桜（ソメイヨシノ）の開花宣言が発表されました。例年に比べて7日早い開花です。桜の開花と聞くと春がやって来たなあ、と思う私。気持ちもワクワクしてきます。

The flowering of a cherry tree in Tokyo was declared on last Saturday, 21 of March. It was the flowering 7 days earlier than an ordinary year. When I hear the the flowering of a cherry tree every year, I feel spring has come. My heart beats faster in anticipation.

今日通りがかった目黒川沿いは三分咲きといった印象。

The cherry trees along the Megro River where I was just passing seemed to be thirty percent in bloom.

今週末あたりからお花見シーズン到来といった感じでしょうか。どこも賑わいそうですね。

I guess the cherry blossom season will come around at last from this weekend. Everywhere in Tokyo will be crowded with people viewing the cherry blossoms.

The Advent of Spring / 春の訪れ。 [Life]

この１ヶ月間は何かと慌ただしくしており、久々の更新です…（汗）。

I could not update this weblog for about a month because I passed busy days... :P

そんな中、今日は所用で吉祥寺へ。
天気が良かったので、自転車で片道１時間ほどかけて行きました。

By the way, I went to Kichijoji (Tokyo) on business.
The weather was nice, so It took me about 1 hour each way to bicycled there.

辛夷（コブシ）の花でしょうか、桜より一足先に咲いていました。

I guessed this flower was Magnolia Kobus (Kobushi Magnolia), it bloomed faster than Sakura (cherry tree) blooms.

東京は、日毎に暖かくなってきています。
春はもうすぐそこですね。

It has been getting warmer and warmer in Tokyo.
Spring is just around the corner.

Hatsumoude / 遅い初詣。 [Life]

遅まきながら実家近くの神社へ、クゥちゃんと一緒に初詣をしてきました。

I went to the first shrine visit of this year late with Coo-chan near my parents' home.

At the Kitazawa-Hachimangu (=Shrine's Name) 北澤八幡宮にて 訪れたときは見事な快晴。 参拝客も少なく、のんびりとお参りすることができました。

When we visited, fortunately it was a fine day. And we could pay a visit to a shrine calmly because there were only few visitors at that time.

	Daruma-mikuji だるまみくじ ここに初詣で訪れる度に引く、人気のおみくじです。 Whenever I pay a visit to a shrine of the New Year, I pull out an Daruma-mikuji which is popular.
	今までだるまみくじでは、吉や小吉ばかりだったので、初めての大吉にびっくり！良いことがあるといいですね〜。 When I pulled out an Daruma-mikuji it had "大吉 (Dai-kichi, Greater good luck)" written on it! I was very surprised because I always drew "吉 (Kichi, Good fortune)" or "小吉 (Shou-kichi, Modest good luck)" till now. I hope something lucky happens.

余談ですが、私の母はこのだるまみくじ、大吉以外引いたことがないのだとか。もちろん今年も…。恐るべし。

みなさまにとっても良き年でありますように！

By the way, my mother has never pulled out an Daruma-mikuji except "Dai-kichi". Of course, this year also... How awesome~...

Weihnachtsmarkt / ドイツのクリスマスマーケット。 [Life]

一昨日（21日）からクリスマスコンサートのトリオの合わせのため、ドイツのシュトゥットガルトに来ています。

こちらではクリスマスマーケットのことを"Weihnachtsmarkt (ヴァイナハツ・マルクト)"と言うのだそうで、街はどこもかしこもクリスマス一色。せっかくなので、観光がてら宮殿広場(Schloßplatz)から市庁舎前のマルクト広場(Marktplatz)にかけてのクリスマスマーケットの様子を撮影してきました。

I've been in Stuttgart in Germany to practice the music with trio for christmas concert since the day before yesterday (21st).

Here it's Christmas market season. We can see it all over the town. The Christmas Market is called the "Weihnachtsmarkt" in Germany. I took some photos of the atmosphere of it around Schloßplatz (Castle square) and Marktplatz.

暗くなるとライトアップされ、ひときわ賑やかな感じになります。

When it gets dark, the whole Christmas market was illuminated.

各出店の屋根はとても凝っていて、見ているだけでも楽しい光景です。

And each of stalls has beautiful decorated roof. So, I enjoyed seeing that scenery very much.

夕方4時頃にはすっかり日が暮れてしまうので、長い夜と寒さを如何に楽しむのか、彼らの知恵を垣間見た気がします。

Because it grows dark around 4 p.m., it seems to be important for them how to enjoy themselves for the long night and the cold of winter. That may their wisdom for living.

Rainy Season in 2008 [Life]

今週の月曜日、関東甲信地方は平年より6日早く、梅雨入りしました。
今年もジメジメした季節到来です。

The rainy season has come in Kanto region this Monday. It began 6 days earlier than an ordinary year.
The damp season has come again~.

街を歩いていると紫陽花が咲き乱れています。
早いもので、夏はもうすぐですね！

When I strolled the streets, I saw many hydrangeas.
How fast the time passes! The summer will come soon!!

Ōme Taisai / 青梅大祭 [Life]

友人の誘いで5/3（土・祝）の午後、『青梅大祭（おうめたいさい・東京都青梅市）』を見に行ってきました。

I went to see the Sumiyoshi Shinto Shrine Ōme Festival, called "Ōme Taisai (青梅大祭)", by friend's invitation last Saturday.

宿場町だった江戸時代から続くお祭りで、毎年5月2日と3日の２日間、旧村別の１２台の大きな山車（だし）が青梅街道を巡行します。

This festival continues since Edo period (1603-1868) and is held in Ōme City in Tokyo, on May 2nd and 3rd every year and 12 large festival floats go around the Ome Kaido Avenue.

	山車同士がすれ違う際に繰り広げられる囃子や舞の競り合いは独特で、とても見応えがあります。
	When the floats go by each other on parade, the Ohayashi (=a kind of Gagaku) musicians on the floats compete with each other by dancing to Japanese drums and bells passionately. That is very unique and is very spectacular.

山車は車輪を軸にして上部が自在に回転するので、初めてそれを目にした時はとても驚きました。

And I was very surprised when I saw the scene which the upper part of the floats turns freely on the wheel's axle.

見物の途中、3匹の獅子舞（大・中・小）に遭遇。 In the middle of the seeing, I met with the scene of the "Shishimai (=Lion dance)". There were 3 lions (L/M/S size).

その後夕方に予定されているメインのパレードまでの間、商店街散策をしてみることにしました。

Afterwards, we decided to stroll in the shopping district of a town before the main parade in the evening.

たまたま立ち寄った呉服店では、気風のいいご主人のお誘いで、店先での宴席に参加させて頂くことに。人情味溢れる地元の人々の温かいもてなしに、しばし顔が綻ぶ場面も。こういう人々との触れ合いも醍醐味の１つですね。

すっかりほろ酔い気分になった私たちは、メインパレードを見に、青梅駅前へ。

At the kimono shop where we happened to drop by, we joined a festive board by shop owner's invitation. We'll never forget the warmth and hospitality we received.

After we were feeling mellow, we went to the Ōme station square to see a main parade.

夕方の青梅駅前では4つの山車が一斉に集まり、お祭りも最高潮。見事な競演を見せてくれました。 In the early evening, 4 festival floats gathered in front of the Ōme station and competed with each other.

そして、かつて山車の上に高く飾られていたという山車人形を見に、再び商店街を散策。

And we strolled in the shopping district of a town again to see the Japanese traditional dolls which was once placed on the top of the festival floats.

等身大よりも大きい人形…。これが山車の上の上に乗っていたかと思うと、オドロキです。

These dolls were used until the end of Meiji period (1868-1912). I was very surprised when I saw the life-sized dolls (maybe taller!). They were once placed on the top of the floats!! Really???

	At night 提灯でライトアップされた山車もまた素敵です。 The festival float lighted up with a Japanese lantern was wonderful.
	山車の巡行はその後も続き、19時半頃にようやくフィナーレ。 参加者や観客には飴が配られました。 The parade had continued, and finally finished at about 7:30pm. The candies were distributed to the participants and the spectators.

とにかく、そんなこんなで青梅大祭を満喫した半日でした。
海外からの観光客が多かったのもうなずけますね〜。

想像以上に面白いお祭りですので、ご興味ある方はぜひ来年！
おかげで、ちょっとした歴史探訪＆伝統文化を学べる良い機会となりました。また行ってみたいかも。

Anyway, I enjoyed the Ōme Taisai very much.
Also, I understood why many foreigners come to the festival. Because we can learn the Japanese history, traditional culture, classic event, and so on... Of course, any generations can enjoy this festival.
I hope to go there sometime again...

Enjoying Seeing the Cherry Blossoms in 2008 [Life]

昨日、遅まきながら花見を兼ねて、久々クゥちゃんと一緒に散歩をしてきました。

Yesterday, I belatedly went out to see the cherry blossoms with Coo-chan.

東京の桜の見頃は一週間前がピーク。
そのため、殆どの桜の木は葉桜状態でした。

The cherry blossoms in Tokyo were at their best one week ago. Therefore almost all of the cherry trees had begun to be out of bloom.

	けれど、１本だけ満開の桜の木を発見!! However, I found a full-bloomed cherry blossom.
	美しい…。 So beautiful~.

今年の桜もそろそろ見納めです。

This will be the last chance to see the beautiful cherry trees of this year.

Beautiful Flowers / 美しい花々 [Life]

東京では昨日、例年より9日早くソメイヨシノが満開となりました。

Somei Yoshino (=a kind of Sakura or Cherry Blossom) was in full bloom in Tokyo yesterday. It was in full bloom 9 days earlier than an ordinary year.

Along the Meguro River 目黒川沿いにて 朝、通りがかった時の光景です。 少しの間でしたが、春霞を見たような気が…。 I happened to see this scenery on my way to the office. I fancied that I saw spring haze for a while.

やはり、満開の桜は美しいですね。
Anyway, full-bloomed cherry blossoms are beautiful.

そして…。
今日、久しぶりに花束を頂く機会がありました。

And..., I had an opportunity to receive a bouquet after a long time today.

仕事でお世話になったチームのみなさまから頂きました。美しいですね〜! It was from the team indebted on business. So beautiful!!

桜に続き、美しい花々に心が和んだ一日でした。

As well as full-bloomed cherry blossoms, I felt soften by the beautiful flowers.

以前にも紹介した巨大ホームセンター『ジョイフル本田　瑞穂店』へ昨日の日曜日、久しぶりに行ってきました。お昼にクゥちゃんのシャンプー＆トリミング予約を入れていたので、それに間に合うように両親＆クゥちゃん、妹夫婦と合流。

今回もクゥちゃんの表情豊かなショットをお届けしたいと思います。

I went to the huge home center "JOYFUL HONDA Mizuho Store" on Sunday of yesterday after a long separation. (See also the past weblog.) My parents, Coo-chan, my sister, her husband, and I met together in advance because we had a reservation of the shampoo and trimming for Coo-chan.

I'd like to show some eloquent Coo-chan's pictures this time, too.

異変に気づき、その後呆然…。余裕ナシ。 She becomes aware of something, and then remains standing in amazement.

このあと、私たちは館内のレストランへ。
Shortly afterwards we went to the restaurant inside the building.

そして１時間後…。　About 1 hour after...

窓越しに、遠い目をしたリボン付きの犬が一匹…! There was a dog with ribbons looking at a far-off place. この時点で彼女はまだ私たちの存在に気づいていません。 At this time, she has not noticed our existence yet.

気づいたらもう大変!!　野太い声で吠える、吠える、吠える!!!
As soon as she has noticed our existence, she has shouted in the deepest voice.

ここにいた動物の中で一番声が出ていたのは言うまでもありません…（汗）。 It goes without saying that her voice was loudest at that place...

そしてようやく、ケージから出してもらえることに。いよいよ再会です!!
At last, she can come out of the cage. We can meet soon!!

会いたくて会いたくて、もう待ちきれない!? She can't wait any more!? ところで、なにげにクゥちゃんを見ている一匹の犬の視線が…（笑）。 もしかして、あきれてる?? By the way, a dog gazes at Coo-chan. Perhaps she or he is disgusted at Coo-chan!?

Enjoyed the Gyōza / 餃子を満喫！ [Life]

以前仕事でお世話になった方々と、昨晩、東京タワーにほど近い中華料理店に行ってきました。

I went to the Chinese restaurant near the Tokyo Tower last night with my friends whom I got a lot of benefit by work before.

Yaki-Gyōza (=Fried dumplings) 焼餃子 遅れてくる友人を待ちながら、まずはビールを一杯。そして、前菜数品とメインの焼餃子をパクリ…。

While waiting for friends, we had a glass of beer. And then we ate some side-dishes, and yaki-gyōza (=fried dumplings) as main dish.

一人前（７個）で400円もしないので、かなりオトクな感じ。これだけでもお腹いっぱいになります。できたての焼餃子はビールによく合いますね。
続けて、水餃子もチョイス。紹興酒と併せていただきました。

It is about 400 yen per head and can be satisfied. I thought beer goes well with yaki-gyōza.
Besides, we ate sui-gyōza (=boiled dumplings) with shoko-shu (紹興酒=Chinese alcoholic drink). That was so tasty!

もうしばらく餃子はいらないかも…、と思ったくらい餃子を満喫した夜なのでした…（笑）。

Though I ate and enjoyed the gyōza very much, I might not want it for a while...

The Snow in Tokyo / 東京の雪 [Life]

昨日、東京では本格的な雪が降りました。積雪は3cmとか。

In Tokyo, it snowed thick and fast yesterday.
The snow seems to have lain about 3 centimeters.

	久々の雪に呆然と見つめるクゥちゃん。 Coo-chan is gazing in wonder at the snow.
	とりあえず、歩いてみる…。 She tries to walk for the time being.
	ゴキゲンな時は片手が上がるクゥちゃん。どうやら楽しくなってきた様子…。 When she is in a good humor, she raises her hand a little. Anyway she seems to have become pleasant.

その後もクゥちゃんはあちこち探索を続け、久々の雪景色を（彼女なりに？）堪能しておりました…。

Afterwards, she was strolling in the snow and she enjoyed seeing the snowscape.

Tengu Matsuri / シモキタの天狗まつり [Life]

２月１日から今日までの３日間、下北沢では毎年恒例の『しもきた天狗まつり』が開催されました。

The "Shimokita Tengu Matsuri (=Tengu Festival in Shimokitazawa)" that was an annual event in Shimokitazawa held for 3 days until today.

	昨晩は天狗が豆まき（←豆の入った袋）をしている場面に初めて遭遇。 I met with the scene where the tengu was scattering the bags containing parched beans for the first time last night.
	福豆をゲット！ And I got the "Fukumame".

そして節分の日の今日。
雪のためイベントは中止となってしまいましたが、商店街では『べらぼう市』という名物のセールが開催されていました。せっかくなので、街の様子をパチリ。

And today of the "Setsubun", although the event had been canceled because of snow, a popular sale called "Berabou-ichi" was held at the shopping district. I took some pictures of the appearance of the town because it was special.

立ち寄ったお店ではどこも雪の日ということもあって、更に割引いてくれたり、福豆をオマケしてくれたので、なんだかトクした気分に。お店の人とのやりとりも商店街ならではの楽しみだったりしますね。

私が小さかった頃は当たり前だったそんな楽しいやりとりも、再開発の進むこの下北沢では、徐々に減ってきているようです。

変わりゆく下北沢をここでも感じる私なのでした…。

Every shop where I dropped in knocked off the sale price more and gave me a "Fukumame". Probably because of snow?? Anyway I felt having profited. I think the communication with the person in the shop is the enjoyment only of the shopping district.

It seems that such a pleasant communication which was natural when I was small is also decreasing gradually in this Shimokitazawa to which redevelopment goes.

I feel again that Shimokitazawa has been changing...

In Preparation for Setsubun / 節分の準備?? [Life]

明日は節分。
実家では母手製の鬼のウィッグ（？）が出来上がっていました。

Tomorrow is "Setsubun".
In my parents' home, mother had finished making wigs of oni (demon or ogre).

試しにクゥちゃんにかぶってもらうと…。
When I put them on Coo-chan...,

	こちらは赤オニ用。 This is for red-oni.
	そしてこちらは青オニ用。 And this is for blue(green)-oni.

角をつけていないと、なんだかアフロ犬みたいだなあ…（笑）。

It looks like a "Afro Ken (=a dog with a rainbow-coloured afro)" if it is without two long horns...

Change in Town 2 / 変わりゆく街 2 [Life]

一年程前にも同じような記事を書きましたが、私が育った街「下北沢」は再開発が進み、景観が次々と変わってきています。

先週日曜日にも一軒、37年間駅前のスーパーマーケットとして活躍していた建物が老朽化に伴い、一時閉店となりました。建替え後、来年秋には新装オープンとのこと。

I wrote a similar article around one year ago. Shimokitazawa where I grew up has been changing the scenery because of redevelopment.

Last Sunday, a familiar building in Shimokitazawa which stands 37 years had been closed. It seems that it will open in the autumn of 2009 after rebuilding.

私の記憶にあるのは、『忠実屋』という名前のスーパーマーケット。コイン式電動遊具が多く並んでいた屋上には、小さい頃よく遊びに行きましたね。 To the best of my memory, I remember there was a supermarket called "Chu-jitsu-ya". There were many coin-type electric playground equipments on the roof. And I often went there in my childhood.

当時の面影を残すこのエスカレーター、そして階段を見るたび、懐かしい記憶が蘇ってきます。

Whenever I see this escalator and staircase, my good memories recurred to my mind.

その後、『ダイエー』となり、食料品・日用品が特化した『ダイエーグルメシティ』となり、衣料品のあった２階に『ユニクロ』が入って…。気がつけばいろいろと変貌を遂げていた建物でした。父の話では、映画館の跡地にできたのが、この建物だったそうです。

Afterwards, the supermarket changed several times and also changed the name. (Nowadays this supermarket's name is "Daiei Gourmet City".) According to my father, this building was built at the site of the movie theater.

Nanakusa-no-sekku / 七種の節句 [Life]

今日は七種（七草）の節句、七種粥を食べる日。
日本の風習の一つですが、唯一小さい頃から好きなメニューです。

Nanakusa-gayu　七種粥 Today is the Nanakusa-no-sekku (=the Festival of Seven Herbs), and we eat nanakusa-gayu (=seven-herb rice porridge). This is one of the long-standing Japanese customs. I like it from childhood.

Talking of the New Year / 正月と言えば… [Life]

お正月に必ずすることの一つに初詣があります。
私は元旦に行って来ました。

	At the Kitazawa-Hachimangu (=Shrine's Name)　北澤八幡宮 One of things that I make the New Year is "Hatsumoude (=pay a visit to a shrine)". I went to there on New Year's Day.
	参拝のため行列して待っていると、囃子の音色が聞こえて来ました。なんだか得した気分…。 While I was waiting for the paying homage at a shrine in line, I heard the tones of Hayashi (=a kind of Gagaku). I felt lucky!

そして忘れてはならない、おせち料理。

And.... a topic worthy of special mention is "Osechi-ryouri" which is the traditional Japanese New Year foods.

Osechi-ryouri　おせち料理 作るのも楽しいけれど、食べて美味しいのは何よりですね。 I enjoy cooking, and I like eating very much!

保存食とはいえ、昔の人は良く考えたものだわ…。

Although they are a kind of preserved foods, I admire the predecessor who considered it well.

A Sniffer Dog!? / 探知犬!? [Life]

ドイツに住む妹から実家へ小包が届き、なぜかクゥちゃん、過敏に反応。

When my sister who lives in Germany sent a parcel to parents, Coo-chan reacted delicately.

Sniffing now... 探索中…。 何かを察知してます！

どうやら何かを見つけたようです…。 She seems to have found something somehow...

中を開けてみると、妹よりクゥちゃんへのクリスマスプレゼント、豚耳のジャーキーが。既にもらう気満々ナリ…。

When I opened it, there was a Christmas present for Coo-chan. It was a jerky of pig's ear. She already means to get it.

食いつきようが違いますね。　She snapped at the jerky.

でもちょっと食べづらそう…。 But she seems to be hard to eat a little...

後で聞いた話では、細かく切ってから出すべきだったみたい…（笑）。

According to my sister, I seemed to have to cut it finely..., hahaha....

On a Nice Autumn Day / 秋晴れの日に [Life]

先日見かけた珍しい雲。
思わず立ち止まり、しばらくぼんやりと眺めていました。

I saw rare clouds the other day. I stopped unconsciously and was idly looking for a while.

清々しい季節も残りわずか…ですね。
過ぎ行く秋をもうしばらく楽しみたいものです。

A fresh season remains a little.
I would like to enjoy autumn that passes by for a while.

Reunion with Sisters / 妹たちとの再会 [Life]

私には二人の妹がいますが、年を重ねてくると、なかなか思うように会えなくなるものです。ドイツ在住の妹が演奏会のために一時帰国したので、昨日は久々３人だけで集まることに。

馴染みの下北沢のカフェでランチをとりながら、お互いの近況報告、家族のこと、これからのこと、etc…と、ひとしきり話に花が咲きました。

Though I have two sisters, it is not easy to meet together as time goes by. By the way, my youngest sister who lives in Germany has returned temporarily to Japan, so that we met together yesterday.

We went to a familiar cafe-restaurant in Shimokitazawa (Tokyo), and we talked about lots of things; reporting on a recent situation, family, future plans, and so on. So we had a lively conversation.

その後場所を新宿に移し、ショッピング。コスメに詳しい真ん中の妹のアドヴァイスを聞き、次回購入のヒントをもらう私。

お腹も空いて来たので、ふらっと立ち寄った沖縄料理店で夕食。とにかく美味しかった！
食事処を探すことに長けている一番下の妹のおかげです（笑）。

Afterwards we went to Shinjuku and shopped. My middle sister who is familiar with cosmetics gave me some hints to buy cosmetics next time.

And as we were getting hungry, we had dinner at the Okinawan restaurant where we dropped in at aimlessly. It was so tasty! Thanks to my youngest sister's good restaurant choice, we were able to be satisfied with dinner.

Awa Odori in Shimokitazawa / シモキタの阿波踊り [Life]

東京・下北沢で毎年この時期になると開催される「阿波おどり」。
阿波踊りと言えば徳島県のそれが最も有名ですが、東京・高円寺に続き、街の活性化に一役買っている馴染みのイベントです。

The Awa Dance Festival in Shimokitazawa, Tokyo is held at this time of every year.
It is said that the "Awa Odori (阿波踊り=Awa Dance Festival)" is the most famous in Tokushima Prefecture, but in Tokyo, it is a familiar festival as well as in Koenji, well-known as Awaodori town.

残念ながらじっくりと見ることができなかったのですが、今年も大変な人出で賑わっていました。

早いもので、これが終わると秋はもうすぐそこです。

Though I couldn't see this year's festival well regrettably, it seemed to be crowded with many people.

When this festival has ended, the autumn will come soon.

The First Day of Autumn / 立秋 [Life]

東京は梅雨明けから１週間、連日猛暑が続いています。
今日は暦で言うところの立秋。もう残暑とは…。

秋の訪れを迎える前に、もう少し「夏」を楽しみたいところです。
それにしては暑すぎる…？

We are in the midst of summer for a week in Tokyo since the rainy season was over.
Today is "Risshū (立秋=the first day of autumn) " by the traditional East Asian calendars (24 solar terms). And we say "Zansho (残暑=the late summer heat)" from today.

I would like to enjoy the "Summer" a little more before the autumn has come.
Even so, it is too hot for me~ Ohhhh...!!!

Enjoy Night / 楽しい夜 [Life]

週末の夜、以前仕事でお世話になったMちゃんを誘って、麻布十番で飲むことに。

まず一軒目は東京タワーにほど近い、彼女オススメのお好み焼き店Kへ。
美味しい料理に舌鼓を打ちつつ、二軒目の立ち飲みBARへ移動。
週末＆連休前ということもあって、どちらのお店も大勢の人で賑わっていました。

This weekend night, I went to dinner in Azabu-juban with M-chan who indebted work before.

At first, we went to her recommended Okonomiyaki restaurant near Tokyo Tower. After we had smacked our lips over the delicious dishes, we went to a bar. Both restaurants were crowded with many people because that day was a weekend, before consecutive holidays.

Mちゃんの気さくな人柄＆トークについつい惹き込まれ、気がつくと私も日頃の鬱憤を発散すべく(?)、食べて、飲んで、話して…。すっかり満喫。気分も爽快で、翌朝の目覚めの良いこと〜（笑）。

こういう夜の過ごし方もたまにはイイものです。Mちゃん、ありがとう！

Her pleasant talk interested me. So I could blow steam off by eating, drinking, and talking~.
I felt refreshed, so that it was good awakening next morning.

Anyway, I enjoyed very much. Thanks M-chan!!

The Star Festival / 七夕 [Life]

今日は七夕。July 7th is "Tanabata", the Star Festival.

あいにくの曇り空で、天の川は拝めそうにない…ので、たまたま見かけた飛行機雲をパチリ。

Unfortunately, it is a cloudy sky, so that I don't seem to look at the Milky Way. So I took a picture of contrail which I saw by chance.

人々は色とりどりの短冊に願い事を書き、それを笹に飾りつける日でもあります。

みなさまは、短冊にどんな願い事を書きましたか？

People write their wishes on colorful strips of papers called "Tanzaku" and tie them to bamboo trees to decorate them.

Departure / 旅立ち [Life]

東京・池袋にある馴染みの洋風居酒屋が今月一杯で閉店すると聞き、ピアニストのSちゃんと一緒に昨晩顔を出してきました。

I heard that a familiar Western-style bar in Ikebukuro (Tokyo), is closed on the end of this month . So, I went there with S-chan who is a pianist last night.

ここは料理が美味しいだけでなく、シェフ兼店長Sさんの人柄に惹かれて、常連客や音楽関係者が多く集います。 This bar serves excellent dinners, also the regular customers and the music field's people who were attracted to a chef and manager S-san's character come here.

客同士が初対面でも、さりげなく紹介をしてくれるのがSシェフのいいところ。音楽家や卵たちが集まってくるのも頷けます。
この日は若手有名ヴァイオリニストG・Rさんもご来店。突然自分の楽器を取り出し、演奏してくれるという一幕も。

If the customers are the first meeting, S-chef introduces them casually. I thought it is a good point of him, so that many musicians and future musicians come to this bar.
On that day, the young famous violinist G-san also came to this bar. He took out his violin suddenly and played.

絶品のプリンとチョコレートケーキはどちらも濃厚でクリーミー。忘れられない味となりました。 These are custard pudding and chocolate cake. Both of them were thick (rich) cream and unforgettable savor.

池袋で美味しい料理とお酒をふるまいつづけて16年。
お店は閉店してしまうけれど、次への第一歩なのだと聞き、一安心。
近い将来、またSシェフの料理にありつけそうです。

Sシェフ、今までありがとう。そしてお疲れさまでした！

This bar has been serving delicious dishes and alcohol in Ikebukuro for 16 years.
Although it will be closed, I heard the news, that is a first step to the next, and felt relieved.
I seem to be able to eat the S-chef's cooking again in the near future.

Thanks, S-chef! I wish him good luck on his new step.

Rainy Season / 梅雨入り [Life]

関東甲信越地方は今日ようやく梅雨入りしたとのこと。
ジメジメとした季節到来です。

At last, the rainy season began in Kanto region today.
The damp weather has come~.

気分も滅入りがちなこの季節。クゥちゃんはというと…。 This season that tends to feel gloomy..., how is Coo-chan?

とてもリラックスしておられるようで…。
でもこの後ろ足、なぜいつも片足だけ??

She seems to be relaxing very much.
By the way, look at this hind leg. Why does she always do such a style??

Season of Hydrangea / あじさいの季節 [Life]

早いものでもう6月…。
花盛りの紫陽花（あじさい）を見に犬のクゥと散歩をしてきました。

Time flies... It is already June! I went for a walk with Coo-chan (=dog's name) to see the blooming hydrangeas.

実はこの日、8回目の誕生日を迎えたクゥ。人間で言うと48歳位らしい…。
Actually, today is Coo-chan's 8th birthday. She is about 48 years old in the human age.

ところでクゥちゃん、私の“おもてなし”はいかがでしたか？？ Coo-chan, how was my hospitality??

Visit Tama Area / 多摩地域探訪 [Life]

週末を利用して、妹夫婦の住む多摩地域へ遊びに行って来ました。

彼らがまず連れて行ってくれたのは、東京都小金井市にある『滄浪泉園（そうろうせんえん）』。武蔵野の特徴的な地形「はけ」と湧水とが織りなす素晴らしい庭園です。紅葉の時期は特に美しいのだとか。

I spent the weekend at the Tama area (Western Tokyo) where my younger sister and her husband live.

First of all, they took me to the "滄浪泉園 (Sou-rou-sen-en)" located in Koganei-shi, Tokyo. This place is a wonderful garden and it is said that especially the season of red leaves (autumnal leaves) is so beautiful.

続いて訪れたのは、滄浪泉園から自転車で10分ほど走った所にある『はけの森美術館』敷地内カフェ『オーブン・ミトン』。
ここのシュークリームはカスタードクリームが濃厚で絶品！
数年前、妹夫婦に教えてもらって以来、大好きなお店の１つです。

Second of all, we went to the Cake shop's cafe called "Oven Mitten" next to the "はけの森美術館 (Hake-no-mori Museum)". It is in the place where it takes about 10 minutes by bicycle from the "滄浪泉園".
The cream puff here is thick (rich) custard cream, so I like it very much!! It has been one of the favorite cake shops since they told me several years ago.

この日はデザートセットをチョイス。シュークリームはテイクアウトしました。 I ordered the "Dessert Set" this time. Of course, I took away the cream puffs!

小平市では数多くの旧式ポストが今なお現役で活躍しています。

These are the mailboxes I found while I ride a bicycle.
In Kodaira-shi, a lot of very old type mailboxes (1 Insert Type) are still in active service.

一日の最後を締めくくるのはスーパー銭湯。夕食後『湯楽の里　所沢店』へ。車で数十分で行けるとあって妹夫婦はよく行くらしい…。なんとも羨ましい限り。

特にここの塩サウナ（女性限定）は、終わった後、肌がツルツルになるのでおすすめです。

And after dinner we went to the "Super Sento (=a kind of public bath)" in Tokorozawa whose name is "湯楽の里 (Yura-no-sato)". It takes about 30-40 minutes by car, so my younger sister and her husband seem to often go there.

I recommend especially the "塩サウナ (=salt sauna / ladies only)" because after trying we can be soft and smooth skin!!

すっかり満喫した私。
この他にも多摩湖＆サイクリングロードをはじめ、沢山見どころ、名所があるとのこと。またの機会にぜひ訪れたいものです。

I enjoyed Tama Area very much.
They said there are a lot of sights elsewhere; 多摩湖 (Lake Tama) & Cycling Road, historic spots, huge park, and so on.
I wish I could go there~!

Tea Break / お茶の時間 [Life]

３年ぶりに再会した友人Mとお茶をしてきました。

彼女とは大学受験予備校で知り合って以来、十数年のお付き合い。
月日はあっという間に流れるもので、20代の頃はバリバリ（？）のキャリアウーマンだった彼女も今では３人のこどものお母さん。子育ての傍ら、仕事を続けている姿には感服です。

I went to the cafe with my friend M who met again after an interval of three years.

We are a companionship of ten several years since we met first at preparatory school for university entrance examination.
The years rolled on quickly... Though she was a career woman in our twenties, she is three children's mother now. Besides, she's working. (I admire her behavior!)

友人との会話の心地よさに浸ったひとときでした。

Children's Day / こいのぼり [Life]

今日はこどもの日。
Today is "Children's Day". The families that have little boys hoist streamers called "Koi-nobori" which are made of cloth and shaped like carp.

散歩中に見かけたちょっと珍しい鯉のぼり。 This is the curious sight of the Koi-nobori which I saw during a walk.

Swiss Local Dishes / スイスの郷土料理 [Life]

スイス出身の知人が自国の郷土料理をふるまってくれるというので、私もその席へ便乗することに。実はスイス料理初体験の私。どんな料理なんだろうと興味津々…。

I joined the dinner that was cooked by a Swiss of my acquaintance. It was really the first time for me to eat the Swiss Food, so I was interested in that food very much.

Rösti (2 types) and Cream Sauce Rösti（２種）＆クリームソース Rösti（リューシティ or レシュティ or ロシュティ）は、スイス地方のハッシュド（or ハッシュ）ポテト。ジャガイモを細く切ってフライパンでパンケーキ型に焼いたものです。ポテトパンケーキと言った方が分かり易いでしょうか。付け合わせとしてよく出てくるのだそうですが、もちろん単品でもOK。今回はRöstiをメインに２種類いただきました。

The "Rösti" is one of the Swiss local dishes. This dish uses julienne (chopped) potatoes and it looks like a Potato Pancake. It seems usually to serve as a side-dish, but we can also eat it as a main-dish. We ate two kinds of "Rösti" as the main-dish this time.

『Mexican Rösti』は野菜やキノコ類、コーンが入っていてとてもヘルシー。そのままパクパク食べられます。そして『Züricher Geschnetzeltes mit Rösti』はプレーンなRösti（そのまま食べてもハッシュドポテトのような感じでおいしい！）に薄切り鶏肉の入ったクリームソース（デミグラスソース入り）をかけていただきます。ソースに絡まった味と食感が美味しい一品でした。

The "Mexican Rösti" contains some vegetables, mushrooms, and corn, so it looked like a healthy food. And the "Züricher Geschnetzeltes mit Rösti" is the plain taste's Potato Pancake with cream sauce which contains the Demi-glace sauce and sliced chicken. Both were so tasty!

そして最後にいただいたデザートです。
This is a dessert which ate at the end.

Crêpes Suzette Pfeffer Erdbeeren (Crêpes Suzette with Pepper and Strawberry Ice Cream) クレープシュゼット　いちごアイスクリーム添え（胡椒入り）

当初『胡椒入り』に驚いたものの、全然気にならなくて美味しかった。
かなりイケます！

とにかく贅沢な時間を過ごさせていただきました。ありがとうUさん！！

When I heard that it contained pepper, I was surprised. However, it was so delicious!
Anyway, I enjoyed dinner very much and spent good time. Thanks U-san!!

Enjoying Seeing Cherry Blossom / 桜を愛でる時 [Life]

今日はクゥちゃんと一緒にお花見（＆観察）をしてきました。

The cherry blossoms are in full bloom now. So I went out to see them in the promenade with Coo-chan today.

In Japan, we often go "Ohanami (お花見)". It means that we enjoy the cherry blossoms in full bloom while sitting under the trees, eating and drinking.

It is so beautiful that the cherry blossoms are out of bloom.
I thought this moment is also "A once-in-a-lifetime chance".

Full-bloomed Cherry Blossoms / 満開の桜 [Life]

５月下旬並みの暖かさだった今日、東京ではソメイヨシノが満開となりました。これは例年にくらべ１日遅いのだとか。

朝方、満開寸前の桜をパチリ。（以前のブログに書いたサイクリングコースでのショットです。）

Somei Yoshino (=a kind of Sakura or Cherry Blossom) was in full bloom in Tokyo today that was warmth as same as the late in May. It was in full bloom 1 day later than an ordinary year.

I took these photos in the early morning. (They are scenes in the cycling course written in the weblog before.)

Season of Cherry Blossoms / 桜の季節 [Life]

東京では昨日、桜の開花が宣言されました。これは例年に比べ8日も早いとのこと。訪れる季節の早さに体がなかなかついて行けませんね。
そんな体に活を入れるべく（？）、昨晩は友人とタイ料理を食べてきました。

The flowering of a cherry tree in Tokyo was declared yesterday. It was the flowering 8 days earlier than an ordinary year. I cannot adapt myself to earliness of the season...
Because of refreshing my body, I ate a Thai Food with friends last night.

At a certain Thai restaurant near the Tokyo Tower 東京タワーにほど近い、某タイ料理店にて

本場のシェフが腕をふるうそのお店は、とにかくおいしくて値段もリーズナブル！しっかり食べて飲んで、この日は一人2,500円ナリ。や、安い！！
辛いもの好きの私にはたまらない最高のお店でした…。また行こうっと。

It was so delicious because there are some local cooks in this restaurant. Besides, its price was reasonable. Despite having enough, it was just 2,500 yen per person in this case. Wow! That's totally awesome!!
It was the best restaurant for me who loved hot and spicy food... I would like to go there again!!

Time of Trial / 試練の時 [Life]

前回紹介した『ジョイフル本田　瑞穂店』ではペットケアも充実しています。食材や玩具の販売のみならず、トリミングルームが完備されていたり、ドッグウォッシュマシン（←初めて見た時はびっくり！）や併設の動物病院等々…。

私たちが昼食をとる間、クゥちゃんにはシャンプー＆トリミングを試してもらうことに…。

In the "JOYFUL HONDA Mizuho Store", a pet caring has been also full. There are not only selling pet foods, toys, but also trimming room, dog-wash-machine (<- when I saw it, I was very surprised!), animal hospital, and so on.

During our lunch time, Coo-chan had to try the shampoo and trimming service...

Huge Home Center / 巨大ホームセンター [Life]

昨日、今年の１月にオープンしたばかりという『ジョイフル本田　瑞穂店』に行ってきました。

『ジョイフル本田』は関東を中心に大型ホームセンターを展開している企業で、商品数はもちろんのこと、きめ細かいサービスも特徴。この瑞穂店は米軍横田基地のすぐ近くにあり、駐車場も巨大（4,000台）です。

Yesterday, I went to the "JOYFUL HONDA Mizuho Store" which has opened a business on this January.
The "JOYFUL HONDA" is the company which has been developing the large-sized home center at Kanto area. The feature is that there are not only many kinds of goods, but also fine service. This Mizuho Store is near by the Yokota Air Base (America's Air Force) and has a huge parking area whose capacity is 4,000 cars.

薦めてくれた妹夫婦の案内のもと、朝９時すぎに入店。（←特に休日は混むので、早めに動くのがポイントらしい。）店舗は２フロアのみにも拘らず、１つの階をまわりきるだけでも相当な時間を要します。とにかくデカイ！
結局お店を出たのは夕方４時を廻っていました。それでも見切れなかった…（泣）。

同行した両親らも気づけば皆単独行動。私もついつい素材や工具、画材売り場で長い間足を止めて見入ってしまいました。食品を扱う一部の場所を除き、ペット同伴可なので、ファミリー層のみならずあらゆる層がのんびり買い物を楽しめるのがいいですね。

いつでも気軽に行けるといいのになあ…。

I entered there past 9 am with my sister and her husband who guide me; Especially, it is important to go there earlier because it is very crowded on holiday. Although it is only two-storeyed store, it takes a lot of time just for going around only one floor.
Anyway, it is so huge store! It was past 4 pm that we left the store after all. However, we couldn't see everything~.

When I noticed about parents and others who accompanied, each of them was an independent action. I was looking at the materials, tools, artist's materials, and so on, for a long time. In this store, the pets are allowed except some places treating food.
So all customers can enjoy shopping and take it easy.

I wish I could go there anytime...

Spring Has "Already" Come / 春の訪れ [Life]

昨日のひなまつり、そして今日と東京では暖かい日が続いています。
暖冬の影響で、梅に続き、数週間も早く桜が咲いているところもあるのだとか…。寒さが苦手の私ですが、早い春の訪れ、あまり素直に喜べないものですね。

Yesterday (the day of Hinamatsuri) and Today, the warm day continued in Tokyo.
Under the influence of a mild winter, in some places, the cherry trees bloom several weeks earlier. Although I am weak in cold, I worry about the spring which comes early.

ところで、散歩中に目にした沈丁花（ジンチョウゲ/チンチョウゲ）。
By the way, when I strolled I saw the Daphne.

ひと足早い春の香りが、私の体を包み込んでいきました。
I was wrapped in a fragrance of early spring for a while.

Final Income Tax Return / 確定申告 [Life]

今日、確定申告を済ませてきました。

とにかく面倒な確定申告の書類作成。普段からコツコツとやっていればまだしも、何事もモノグサな私は、一気にまとめてやっています。だから大変！
いつも何かしら漏れがあるので、毎年この季節になると、各地区で開催される「税理士会による無料申告相談」を利用。ここでは相談のみならず、提出もできるので、大助かり。近年は大変お世話になっています。

最近はインターネットで申告や納税ができる「国税電子申告・納税システム（e-Tax）」があるそうですが、私はまだまだ記載に自信が無いので、導入できそうにありませんね…。とほほ。

ともあれ無事に終わってホッとしています。

I submitted an final income tax return today.
In recent years, whenever this season comes every year, I use the Consultation of free declaration by Licensed Tax Accountants' Association.

This consultation is held in each district and it is very convenient because it not only consults, but also can submit the declaration. I can save time writing the declaration by their help.
Recently, there is a system that declares and can pay taxes by Internet (e-Tax). However, I don't feel like trying it yet. Because I always mistake something !!

Anyway, it is over safely, so I am so relieved.

Walk with the dog / 犬との散歩 [Life]

犬のクゥちゃんと、のんびり散歩を楽しんできました。
天気が良いと、気分も最高！

I enjoyed relaxing and walking with Coo-chan.
Whenever the weather is fine, I feel fresh!

どうも人気（ひとけ）のない道が好きらしく、また思わぬところで立ち止まるので、つくづく犬の目線は面白いなと感心しきり…。

She seems to like walking the empty streets. And she always stops me at the unexpected places, so I admire that the dog's sight are interesting. (She brings to me the wonderful sights!)

黙々と歩いていると思いきや、こっちを、み、見てる…（笑）。
When I think she is walking silently... She is looking at me!

Tengu Festival / しもきた天狗まつり [Life]

私の場合、節分と言えば、シモキタの天狗が浮かびます。
そこで久々『しもきた天狗まつり（今日まで３日間開催）』に行ってきました。残念ながらパレードは既に終了。天狗を見ることができなかったので、祀られているお寺へ行くことにしました。

In my case, "Setsubun" reminds me about the Tengu in Shimokitazawa...
After a long separation, I went and saw the "Shimokita Tengu Matsuri (=Tengu Festival in Shimokitazawa)" that was held for 3 days until today. Regrettably, I couldn't see the Tengu parades because it had been already over. So I went to the Shinryu-ji (<-Temple's Name) sacred to this Tengu.

今日は節分。Today is "Setsubun".

鬼は外、福は内！
一年の無病息災を願います。

When we throw beans, we shout, "Oni wa soto! Fuku wa uchi! (鬼は外、福は内！)". It means "Demon out, fortune in!".
We pray for good health and luck.

Change in Town / 変わりゆく街 [Life]

以前もお伝えしたように、私が育った街「下北沢」は再開発が進み、景観が変わりつつあります。

私が生まれて初めてアルバイトをした駅敷地内にあるベーカリーも、先日ついに閉店となってしまいました。

New Year's Eve / 大晦日 [Life]

私の実家では『お年取り』と言って大晦日におせち料理を食べる習慣があります。
母と一緒におせちを作るのもこれまた楽し。

In my parents' home, there is a custom of calling it "Otoshi-tori (お年取り)" and eating "Osechi" on New Year's Eve.
Cooking "Osechi" with Mother also is enjoyable.

Barbecue Party / 感謝祭のごちそう!? [Life]

昨日はかつて仕事でお世話になったWさんのバーベキューパーティーに誘われ、お宅へ伺うことに。神奈川県の葉山に行ってきました。

I was invited to the Barbecue Party of Mrs.W indebted on business before, so I went to her house at Hayama in Kanagawa Prefecture.

Barbecue Party お庭でバーベキューとは、ステキです。辺りがまっ暗になるまで、食べて、飲んで、談笑していました。 We had a great time (eating, drinking, talking...) until it had been very dark.

Mrs.W's Homemade "Sangria" (=Spanish Red Wine Punch) W家特製『サングリア』

『サングリア』はスペインの飲み物で、リンゴ・洋梨・オレンジなどの果物を皮付き（輪切り）で入れ、赤ワインで浸けたもの。とにかく美味！パーティーの名脇役として活躍していました。
ちなみに飲み終わった後の果実（右）はマズくて食べられないのだそうです。

少し遅れた感謝祭のごちそう、とでも言いましょうか…。
満喫した一日でした。Wさんご夫妻はじめ、みなさんありがとう!!

It was so tasty! It goes well with the party.
By way of parenthesis, the fruit after having finished drinking it (the right side of above photo) is terrible taste, so we can't eat it.

World Diabetes Day / 世界糖尿病デー [Life]

去る、11/14は『世界糖尿病デー』。
インスリンを発見したフレデリック・バンティングの誕生日にちなみ定められたもので、毎年この日を中心に各国ではさまざまな啓蒙活動が行われているのだそうです。
そういえば、翌15日朝のフジテレビ(CX)『とくダネ！』のオープニングトークでは、自身も糖尿病である司会の小倉智昭さんがこの件を取り上げていましたね。また、プロダクト分野の話で言うと、2005年度グッドデザイン大賞でテルモ株式会社の『インスリン用注射針(ナノパス33)』が選ばれていたのが記憶に新しい…。

ところで糖尿病と言うと、すぐさま生活習慣病を連想してしまいますが、それは2型糖尿病のことを指すのだそうです。実は私の真ん中の妹が、20代後半の時に1型糖尿病（＊）を発症し、それ以来、糖尿病には種類があることを知りました。

（＊）１型糖尿病は10万人に1人の確率で発症し、その患者の多くは20歳未満が殆どのため、かつては小児糖尿病またはインスリン依存型糖尿病と呼ばれていました。自身でインスリンの生産もしくは十分な量のインスリンを作れないため、毎日のインスリン注射（およそ日に4回）を余儀なくされています。

さて、そんな妹から先日嬉しいお知らせが。
世界糖尿病デーにあたり、デンマークに本社を置く糖尿病ケアのリーディングカンパニー、ノボ ノルディスク ファーマ株式会社が『ノボ ノルディスク糖尿病エッセイ大賞』を開催。なんと妹は初エッセイにもかかわらず、佳作受賞とのこと。おめでとう！

尚、主催会社のサイトに受賞作品が閲覧できるようになっているのですが、残念ながら佳作作品は掲載されておりません…。
妹の快諾を得て、ここに掲載することにしました。

Every November 14th is "World Diabetes Day". In Japan, some events were held as well as foreign countries.

World Diabetes Day is celebrated every year on 14 November. The date was chosen as it is the birthday of Frederick Banting who, along with Charles Best, first conceived the idea which led to the discovery of insulin in 1922. While many events take place on or around the day itself, themed campaigning is spread over the whole year.

And in the area of product design, TERUMO CORPORATION developed the thinnest needles for insulin injections "Nano pass 33" which won the Grand Prize at "Good Design Award 2005" in Japan.

The reason why I am talking about diabetes is ...., because my middle sister became diabetes.
She became Type1 diabetes when she had been in her late twenties. And I didn't know that there're some types in diabetes till then.

By the way, the other day, I got the good news from middle sister.
She won a fine work at Novo Nordisk Essay Competition (Organized by Novo Nordisk Pharma Ltd. which is the world's leading diabetes care company). Congratulations!

Meeting Friends [Life]

先週から今週にかけて、連日立て続けに、友人と会食しておりました。
再会した人たちは、かつての取引先や、数年ぶりに来日した海外の友人だったり、ジャンルも話題もさまざま。とにかく有意義な一週間でした。
さすがに胃腸がバテ気味ですが…（笑）。

食欲の秋、芸術の秋…、紅葉も始まったこの季節。
じっくりと味わっていきたいですね。

I met some friends every day and night from last week to this week. The people who met again are the once customers before, the overseas friends who visited Japan after an interval of several years, and so on. They were various genres and having topics. So I spent the great time for a week.
Certainly, my stomach and intestines have been tired out...

In Japan, it is said that the autumn is the best season to do for "Eating", "Appreciating Art", "Reading Books". The leaves have been turning yellow and red in Japan. So I'll try to appreciate many things!

Same Day!! [Life]

先週末、知り合いのお見舞いに行ってきました。良性腫瘍の摘出のために入院していて、手術は無事成功。今の医学は発達していて手術後３日目には退院なんですって！びっくり。
そして何より驚いたのが彼女の夫の話。
以前から足の親指の巻き爪に悩まされていて、どうせだからと妻と同じ日に手術をということになり、早朝７時３０分にオペ、数十分にて無事終了。その後、妻の手術に立ち会うため、足を気遣いながらも病院へ駆けつけるという偉業（？)を成し遂げました。
早い時間から手術があるものだと驚きつつ（既に１人オペが終わった後だったそうで、執刀医も恐るべし…）、何も同じ日にしなくても…と思うのは私だけではないはず…（笑）。どこまで仲が良いのやら…、ともあれステキなご夫婦です。
経過は（二人とも）順調で、無事退院の知らせを聞いてホッとしている私。くれぐれもお大事にね！

My acquaintance who entered the hospital last week, she had an operation to get rid of some benign tumors. The operation succeed, so I went to the hospital to see her last weekend.
By the way, there were another topic.
The same day, her husband was operated on for removal the big toe's rolling nail early in the morning (7:30AM!!). He was a light operation, so after the operation he went in haste to the hospital which his wife entered. He was very lucky to arrive in time on operation.
I never heard the spouses were operated in the same day!! However, why do they get along well??
Anyway they're good after that, and I was relieved very much to hear the news of her leaving hospital. Take Care!!

Always Earnest! / いつも真剣！ [Life]

Tengu in Shimokitazawa / シモキタの天狗 [Life]

前回につづき、天狗ネタを。The sequel to the Tengu topics.

Tengu at Shinryu-ji (<-Temple's Name) in Shimokitazawa Size : H 3m×W 2m 下北沢・真龍寺(道了尊)にある 高さ3m×幅2mの天狗面

毎年、節分の頃に開催される『しもきた天狗まつり』で、山車のごとく街中を練り歩くのがこの天狗。
かつては下北沢駅の階段脇にドーンと掲げられていたものです。
小さい頃、目の前を通り過ぎるたびになぜかビビッていたのを思い出します…。(かなり大きいものなので圧倒されたんだと思う…。)

Tengu Festival is held in Shimokitazawa every winter; The end of January to the 3rd February. This Tengu parades like the DASHI (=Float).
This Tengu had been hung on the stairs side of the Shimokitazawa Station once. I remember whenever I passed by Tengu in childhood, I was scared~. (So Huge for kids~!)

普段どこにいるのかと思いきや…、曹洞宗・真龍寺というお寺にその姿はありました。ちなみにこの天狗、『下北天狗まつり実行委員会』からの寄贈なのだそうです。

つい最近まで知りませんでした…（汗）。

The Shinryu-ji sacred to this Tengu. I didn't know where this Tengu usually is until recently.
By the way, it seems to have been donated by Shimokita Tengu-Festival Executive Committee.

Tengu Beer / 天狗ビール [Life]

街の再開発が進み、かつての景観が徐々に失われつつある下北沢(＝シモキタ)。最近では変わりゆくシモキタを舞台にした書籍や映画、ドラマ等がよく制作されています。
かつての姿を多少なりとも知っている者としては、一抹の寂しさを感じることも。

Shimokitazawa has been changing the landscape in recent years, because of the redevelopment.
So, the book, the movie, and the TV drama, etc. are produced well which based on the stage of Shimokitazawa.

ところで、先日こんなビールに出会いました。
By the way, I found such a beer the other day.

TENGU BEER 天狗ビール Tengu=Japanese long-nosed goblin

注ぎ口付近には“TENGU BEER SHIMOKITAZAWA'S NO.1 BEER”、
ラベルには“下北沢 天狗 地ビール”、“NO.1 TENGU BEER”と書かれています。

原材料は麦芽とホップ。
シモキタに地ビールがあったとは知りませんでした…。
でも調べてみると、なんととある映画をきっかけに商品化されたものだとか。詳しくは、映画『男はソレを我慢できない』公式ブログ内の記事（http://blog.excite.co.jp/otoko-sore/5509473/）をどうぞ。

It's made from malt and hop.
I didn't know that the micro-brew was in Shimokitazawa.
It seems to be a thing which became goods by the movie.

さて、気になるお味の方は…。Well, the anxious taste...??

結構イケます。但し、冷えたのに限る!!
So tasty! However, Cold Beer Only!!

Aki-Matsuri in Shimokitazawa / 下北沢の秋祭り [Life]

私が長年育った街、東京・下北沢は、昨日今日と北澤八幡宮の祭礼（秋祭り）で賑わっておりました。
Aki-Matsuri (=Autumn Festival) took place at Shimokitazawa in Tokyo yesterday and today; Shimokitazawa is my hometown.

久々、懐かしい光景に遭遇。山車を引いていた幼きころを思い出します。
I met with the nostalgic spectacle after a long time. I remembered I pulled the "DASHI (=Float)" in childhood.

乗るたびについつい見てしまう私…。
これってサービス精神旺盛な日本ならではの発想なのかもしれませんね。

We can see the rate of exchange and stock prices.
I watch it whenever I take this elevator...
It may be the Japanese way of thinking, or service spirit???

Weekend [Life]

先週末は、友人宅を訪問。おいしい食事と飲み物に舌鼓を打ちつつ、久々の談笑を楽しんできました。
I visited friend's home last weekend. I enjoyed talking with delicious foods and drinks.

その時いただいた手打ちパスタ。
シコシコとした歯ごたえのパスタにトマト＆挽肉のソースが見事に絡み合って、絶品ナリ！ポテトの冷製スープと。

"Hand-made Pasta with Tomato and Ground Meat Sauce" was so tasty!! (With Cold Soup of Potato.)

なんとそのお宅には、ハープが…!!
There was a harp at home! Wow~!!

もちろん、試奏させて頂きました！ でも、似合っていない…!? Yes! I tried to play the Harp~!! But not suit~!?

水曜日のオシムジャパンの最初の試合（トリニダード・トバゴ戦）をテレビ観戦しておりましたが「考えるサッカー」とは興味深いですね。今後が楽しみです。

さて、7月25日のブログから約２週間。
いつの間にかこんなことになっておりました…。

Summer! / 夏本番！ [Life]

東京では昨日、梅雨明けとなりました。蝉があちこちで鳴いています。
キンキンに冷えたビールが美味しい季節、到来ですね。
The rainy season was over in Tokyo. Many cicadas chirps here and there. The very cold beer (←Japanese style) is in season! Summer has come!!

約50種類のベルギービールがあるお店にて。 豚の冷しゃぶサラダ＆ライスセットを『grisette（グリゼット)』ビールと共に。 "Shabu-Shabu Salad & Rice Plate" with Bergian Beer "grisette" at cafe-restaurant in Tokyo.

ベルギーで飲んだ美味しいビールをついつい思い出してしまいます…。
I remember the delicious beer which I drank in Belgium….

Coo-chan's Topics / わんこネタ [Life]

昨日、ドイツに住む妹から実家に荷物が届き、中には犬用のおもちゃも。
母の話では、ちょっと目を離したスキに無惨な(?)お姿に…。
その間約10分。クゥちゃん（←犬の名前）、恐るべし…。
よっぽど嬉しかったのかな??

My sister who lives in Germany sent a parcel to parents yesterday. Here's new doggie's toy!
But Mom said "When I called away the attention for a while, she had done it !! It was about 10 minutes."
Coo-chan (=doggie's name) was very happy for this toy, I thought.

というわけで、私も本日、そのおもちゃを使って遊んでみることに。
真ん中を押すと音が鳴るので、音の出るおもちゃ好きの彼女（クゥ）は夢中になって遊んでました。
So, I checked it and played with her today.
Push the center, it sounds.

	でも、すぐ飽きちゃうのよね…。 She looks so happy during playing. She's lost interest in it soon, though.....

Hydrangea / 紫陽花（あじさい） [Life]

散歩をしていたら満開の紫陽花に遭遇。形も色もさまざま。美しさについ足を止めて見入ってしまいました。
雨の多い憂鬱な季節ですが、毎年この時期に出会う紫陽花には気持ちが癒されますね。

When I took a walk, I found many hydrangea which are in flower. I felt relaxed on their beauty every rainy season.
